Naina Harish

I would love to be the president of the women's cricket club. Cricket has been a huge part of my life; I began playing when I was 7 years old, and the only option was to join a boy’s team at my local club. I then played for Surrey County Cricket from 2017-2023 and really enjoyed watching women’s cricket thrive with greater investment and increased accessibility. I fully understand the importance of expanding women's cricket and would love the opportunity to lead the club to further success. As I understand that many women would not have had the opportunity to play before, I would focus on fostering a welcoming environment where everyone, of all abilities, are encouraged to join the club to develop their skills and play socially or competitively.  I joined the club in my first year, and really loved the community, and especially had fun winning the varsity in summer term. I would like to start initiatives for fundraising so we the club could book more training sessions at Lords and even some fielding or match play practice. I will work closely with the members of the club to ensure that everyone's opinions are heard and considered carefully, and I look forward to raising my ideas with the student union. I would also be motivated to work with the Men’s Cricket Club, whether that was for socials, or even some training/ friendly matches, as I believe that further integration would be advantageous for both clubs. Thank you so much!
