Please wait for my speech at AGM. A lot to discuss. Up the CC!
Wednesday nights are hallowed ground, and as one of your Social Secs, I plan to treat them with the respect they deserve. I’m Zak, and I intend on delivering a social season that blends old classics with new, exciting events. From inclusive mixers to our most infamous themed nights, my goal is to make sure every member feels part of the club’s culture, whether they're a veteran or a fresher. Let’s make next year one of elite socials, even if we can't remember them.
Hi everyone, in case I haven't met you yet, I'm Callum. I'm loyal to the CC on and off the pitch and keen to make the most of our sacred Wednesday socials. I'm fully prepared to take on the role and make sure every Wednesday is memorable — or not, depending on your alcoholic tendencies. As Social Sec, I promise to deliver high quality socials, a mix of unique new events alongside some returning favourites.
I also hope you had the pleasure of joining us for the Fresher Takeover social, where alongside Zak I helped organise the event. If you were lucky enough to be there, you'll know it was a great night with some truly memorable moments — a small taste of what's to come if you give me your vote.
Being a member of UCL CC has given me a rich introduction into the social side of sports here at UCL. The social aspect of the club aids in bringing all the members together and is truly integral to its success.
On my schools cricket tour to Grenada, I was given a range of social responsibilities. I was tasked with organising team meetings, coordinating with hotel and bar staff, and ensuring that all members on the tour were fully immersed in the social side of the tour. I believe the skills that I developed from this tour are directly transferable to the role of social secretary at UCL CC.
I will continue to collaborate with other societies, both in and out of UCL, to provide variety within the socials at the club. Fresher engagement is another key role for a social secretary at the club and I will ensure that the culture of integrating freshers into the society is continued.
If elected as the social secretary, I believe I can implement a range of measures whilst working alongside other committee members (e.g. treasurer,) to boost numbers and engagement at our socials.
Hi everyone, I’m Nathanael and I am running to be one of your next social secs.
Quite simply, socials are vital to the club. They are where first years find their people, where different teams mix and, most importantly, where memories are made. If anyone can run them, and keep Peter in check, it’s me. As someone who has made it out of Lewisham, I have shown already that I can survive any situation, so I am ready for any challenges this role will bring.
Here are some of my ideas:
- Fool-proof Ou Est Le Poulet guaranteed
- Spin-the-Wheel Social…..
- More non-drinking socials
- Meet and Greet Socials to set the tone
- Freshers vs Returners Social
I am standing for Social Secretary because I believe that I know how to create socials people will definitely turn up to and can help build momentum and energy around those events. Being President of my school's Economics Society and increasing its attendance throughout the year by 300% helped me understand what is required to really entice and incentivise new joiners and has also taught me how to consistently deliver high-quality events week in week out, which can translate to delivering high-quality social events for the CC weekly. Furthermore, I ran joint events and collaborated with other societies, skills which can be used in this role to run joint socials with other sports societies. Moreover, I organised the social aspect of my school's cricket tour, planning team-bonding activities for during the day when we had non-game days and at night. These activities brought the entire squad together, helping make the trip memorable both off and on the field.
Peter Irvine need I explain more?
Dedicated to the cause, rarely miss socials and am a rock for diversity. Creative and will put passion into socials (presentation will depict my creativity). I came to cricket, I saw I conquered (apologise my aura farming). I may take a while but I never mis deadliness Q.E.D (ask Oz for reference) I know everyone and everyone knows me and I will go out of my way to learn freshers names and help them if they need and make sure they don’t do a Peter. In summary all will be shown at the presentation but I would be proud to be a social sec representative of the club.
