I’m standing for Treasurer of Consulting Society because strong finances are the foundation of an ambitious society. With a strong interest in consulting and experience through consulting internships, I’ve developed an appreciation for strategic planning, financial discipline, and data-driven decision-making, which I want to bring directly into this role. I want to ensure every sponsorship pound and membership fee is used strategically, whether that’s subsidising flagship events, securing high-quality speakers, or expanding accessibility. My focus will be on transparency, long-term financial planning, and building sustainable sponsor relationships. By tightening budgeting processes and introducing clearer financial reporting, we can confidently grow our events and outreach. A well-managed budget doesn’t just balance books, it enables bigger opportunities for every member.
Hi! I'm Helen Meng from Population Health Sciences. I firmly believe I'll be a responsible and effective Treasurer of UCL Consulting Society.
I had an amazing time as a student consultant on the NutriElite project last term, and I want to give back by making sure the society stays flourishing for years to come.
As Treasurer, I'll manage the society's finances clearly and effectively. That means tracking and reporting revenue and expenses monthly, processing reimbursements quickly, and making sure members get value from their membership by tracking the impact of events. I'll also handle budgeting for socials, food, drinks, and marketing- and help identify the most impactful sponsorships we can pursue within our budget.
I've got the background to back this up. As VP of Med Access Network in high school, I managed budgets for hygiene workshops- splitting funds across locations, sponsorships, equipment, and printing, and tracking every dollar. I also had a US marketing internship where I negotiated MOQs and pricing with 100+ customers for an accessory manufacturer, so I'm comfortable with numbers and client relations. On top of that, I manage my own investment portfolio across ETFs and commodities, which has taught me how to research, track, and make informed financial decisions.
If elected, I'll be responsible, organized, and focused on making sure the team can flourish without worrying about finances- so we can keep delivering the best experience to our members.
Hii,
My name is Adam Zhou, and I’m a first-year studying Economics and an Academic Rep for my course. I recently started as a consultant at the Consulting Society, but for most of the year, I have been an active member trying to make the most of every event. The activities this society organizes like the Consulting Summit, the partnerships, and the case studies have felt so ambitious to me and original that they actually made me want to get out of my accommodation and attend. Seeing the work that goes into these sessions from the outside made me want to get involved with the committee and help make the society even better next year.
As the current Treasurer of the Economist’s Society I have spent this year managing a budget and ensuring events actually have the funding to happen. I want to bring to the Consulting Society that same high energy by securing more sponsors and continuing to organise great events. As Treasurer, I would be honored to manage our finances carefully so that when we commit to something big, we can deliver the best outcome for everyone.
Being a course Rep for the Economics faculty is a different role, but I hope it shows I’m someone who can be trusted to get things done and stay on top of communication. Between my work as a consultant here and my experience as a Treasurer, I’m motivated to see us grow. I really think I’m a good fit to help out and I’m ready to support that growth.
Vote for me for free food and to take our society further together!
Adam Zhou
While I value excellence, I am even more drawn to diligence and discipline. Over the years, I have shown not only academic distinction but professional dexterity, consistently delivering results that speak credibly. I am standing for the position of a Treasurer because I enjoy bringing structure, accuracy, and financial discipline to organisations, and I want to support a society that plays a major role in developing analytical and professional talent at UCL. My experience improving data accuracy by 95%, resolving $130,000 in financial discrepancies, and streamlining reporting processes has prepared me to manage budgets responsibly, maintain transparent records, and ensure that financial decisions are grounded in reliable information.
I have also held leadership roles, including serving as the General Coordinator of Excel Minds, where I oversaw teams, managed logistics, and ensured projects were delivered on time. This strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, organise resources effectively, and stay accountable for outcomes — all essential qualities for a Treasurer working with a busy committee and external partners.
The Consulting Society’s focus on problem‑solving, professionalism, and high‑quality events aligns closely with my strengths. I am motivated to bring financial rigour, organisation, and a collaborative mindset to the committee, ensuring the society’s operations run smoothly and its initiatives are supported by strong financial management throughout the year.
I am standing because I have really enjoyed being part of the UCL Consulting Society as a First Year Representative in the Technology Division this year, and I'd like to contribute more actively to its growth. Over this academic year, it has been immensely rewarding to see the organisation's reach and stature grow firsthand through events like the UCL Consulting Summit and various case study events with notable alumni, and I aspire to push the society's reach even further as a prospective Treasurer of the UCL Consulting Society. Through helping out and organising certain tasks at these events, as well as through my coursework and involvement in other societies, I have developed strong organisational and collaborative skills. If elected, the core message I would like to convey as Treasurer is a structured, disciplined outlook on fiscal management, while making well-timed investments to accelerate the society's growth.
Hi I'm Sid!
I think you should vote for me to be Treasurer. Here's why:
I believe my background makes me a great fit for this role:
- Since secondary school, I have run a non-profit organisation with over 50 students across 4 countries, effectively fundraising over 3800 pounds for effective cause areas. This past winter, I successfully organised a winter coats appeal for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, successfully donating over 1000 coats to disadvantaged communities in London. My capability to manage our fixed budget of 150 pounds to maximise these results shows my ability to manage fixed resources for results.
- While in secondary school as the Deputy Head Pupil Librarian, I was able to apply for and leverage a 250 pound budget to organise multiple events throughout the year, including public speaking competitions, organise speakers and even set up a cross-school quiz with over 120 students across multiple schools. This demonstrates my capability to apply for and leverage funds effectively to manage significant projects.
- Having interned at Blackmont Consulting for 3 months, I have experience working with techniques like Porter's Five Forces, SWOT and Direct Competitor Mapping.
- I was also invited to the finals for the Dida Consulting Case Competition at the start of the year.
I'm passionate about consulting, and I believe this career has the capability to make impactful, long-lasting change through meaningful action.
So I'd really appreciate your vote! Please do vote for me!
