I'm excited to nominate myself for Treasurer of the Computer Science Society. As a 2nd year BSc Computer Science student and the current Head of Operations, I’ve had the privilege of working behind the scenes to ensure our events run smoothly and deliver value to our members. My experiences and passion have led me to step forward and contribute at a higher level. I believe that the role of Treasurer allows me to better support our committee, strengthen our internal structure and turn our ambitions into meaningful action.

This year, I have been continuously contributing to the society by coordinating our committee across multiple major events, including the Welcome Fair at UCL East and our flagship hackathon HackLondon 2026. I have strived to create rotas and schedules that allow us to work flexibly and effectively, ensuring smooth operations from start to finish. I am always dedicated to CSS and make sure that our events are carried out at the highest standard.

As treasurer, I aim to manage our budget transparently and efficiently, making sure that most of it goes back to our members in the form of impactful events for our members. These include workshops, hackathons, networking opportunities and just as importantly, social activities to enjoy and relax. CSS to me has always been about engaging all members of the community to build meaningful relationships and change our lives for the better. I'm very eager to embrace the challenge and elevate our society to new heights.

Matthew Mok

Hello everyone,

I’m Matthew, and I’m excited to be running for Treasurer of CSS.

Over the past year as Head of Marketing of CSS, I’ve been responsible for promoting our events. Through this role, I’ve seen which activities attract strong interest and participation, and I’ve observed how much planning and funding go into organising our larger initiatives, such as HackLondon.

I understand that major events rely on significant sponsorship funding, and that it is crucial to manage these funds responsibly so that members get the most out of our events, from free pizza to attractive prizes for hackathons.

As Treasurer, I would focus on allocating funds carefully and intentionally, making sure spending supports the events that members actively engage with. I would also maintain clear and organised financial records and plan budgets in advance, all to ensure that members continue to enjoy and engage with our activities throughout the year.

My goal is simple: to manage CSS’s finances responsibly so that the society can continue to grow while remaining financially sustainable.

Thank you for reading, and I would greatly appreciate your support!
