Civil Engineering Society: Events Officer

Hi everyone! My name is Lina and I’m a second-year Civil Engineering student and I’d love to be your next Events Officer. This year I’ve also been working as an Events Manager for the Kazakh Society, where I helped organise social and cultural events, coordinate logistics, and create a welcoming atmosphere where people can meet and enjoy themselves.

The Civil Engineering Society has already had so many amazing events this year — from the ball and ice skating to industrial visits and career fairs — and it’s been great to see how active and social the community is. I’d be really excited to build on that success and help organise even more fun events next year.

Alongside the classics, I’d love to introduce some new ideas too, like a Civil Engineering Pub Quiz with fun rounds about famous structures, engineering disasters, and random construction facts, or a relaxed Alumni Stories Night where recent graduates share their experiences about starting their careers and maybe some fun stories from the uni years in a more casual atmosphere.

I’m a very easy-going person who naturally prioritises others and enjoys bringing people together. My goal would be to create events that people genuinely look forward to — whether that’s learning about career opportunities, networking with others in the course, or just taking a break and having a good time together.
