Chinese Students and Scholars Association Society: President

Hello everyone. My name is Jack Peng, and I am running to be your next UCL CSSA President. I currently serve as Head of the Academic Department. I believe the CSSA President should never belong to only one department. Leadership should be defined by competence, responsibility, and the ability to deliver. CSSA should be a platform where the best candidate, with the clearest plan and strongest execution, earns your trust.

This year I worked with my Academic Department teammates to organise a 150+ person committee dinner and successfully negotiated a better venue and price than last year. Beyond CSSA, I also serve in the Liaison and Public Relation Department of UK CSSA and as Vice Chair of the UCL China Forum, gaining experience in large-scale events, partnerships, and structured project delivery.

If elected, my priority will be improving governance and transparency. I will publish a clear CSSA constitution and governance handbook defining responsibilities, election procedures, and budgeting principles. Major decisions should be made collectively by committee vote, with meeting minutes recorded and shared with members.

CSSA should be professional, transparent, and reliable. Members should see consistent communication, clear rules, and a team that takes responsibility and delivers results. If you want a CSSA that is organised, accountable, and respected, I ask for your support. Thank you.

My name is Yuki Zhou. Over the last year, I have served as President of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA), leading the society through a period of consolidation, restructuring, and growth. I am standing for re-election because I believe effective leadership is built on continuity, accountability, and delivery. Last year, we strengthened internal coordination, improved financial transparency, clarified departmental responsibilities, and worked more closely within the Students’ Union framework to ensure compliance and efficiency. These were not short-term changes, but structural improvements designed to benefit future committees.

Looking ahead, my vision is to further transform CSSA into a platform that delivers long-term value. This includes expanding academic and career-focused initiatives, improving resource integration, and ensuring that events are not only well-organised but also meaningful and relevant to students’ needs. At the same time, I am committed to maintaining clear governance structures and proactive communication with the Students’ Union.

Leadership, to me, is not about visibility, but about responsibility. It is about building systems that work, empowering teams to perform, and making decisions that serve the wider student community. If re-elected, I will continue to lead with professionalism, transparency, and a long-term perspective, ensuring that CSSA remains effective, credible, and student-centred.

大家好，我是郝一鸣，UCL物理系大二学生。过去一年我担任了外联部部长并参与新生临行会、UCL春晚、华为宣讲会等活动的招商与对接，并推动学联卡更新，累计合作商家与机构50+，目的为了UCL的中国学生提供更便利、更实用的支持。

Hello everyone, I’m Yiming Hao, a second-year Physics student at UCL. Over the past year, I served as Head of External Relations, supporting sponsorships and partnerships for major events while improving the CSSA Card and securing 50+ partners.

今年对学联而言，是重新思考定位的一年。大家期待更高质量、更多样、更贴近需求的活动，而改进的基础在于把透明决策、有效执行和公平资源真正落实成机制。基于过去一年的经验，我希望推动：完善决策制度、推进财务公开、加强与SU合作、优化部门效率、扩大东校区覆盖，并建立培训制度，把经验沉淀为标准。

This year is a time for CSSA to rethink its role. Students want activities that are higher in quality, more diverse, and more relevant to their needs. Real change means turning transparent decision-making, effective execution, and fair resource allocation into lasting systems. Based on my experience, I hope to improve decision-making, financial transparency, SU cooperation, departmental efficiency, East Campus outreach, and training systems.

我相信CSSA应成为公开、透明、真正服务学生、帮助同学实现想法与梦想的平台。我也相信，凭借责任心、执行力和沟通能力，我能为CSSA和中国留学生群体带来真正的帮助。最后，我希望能和大家一起去建设一个更高效、更有温度、更值得信赖的CSSA。

I believe CSSA should be an open and transparent platform that truly serves students and helps them turn ideas into reality. I hope to work with everyone to build a more efficient, supportive, and trusted CSSA.
