I’m running for Varsity and Rec Captain for UCL Lightning because of my genuine love for cheer and dance and my passion for supporting the team’s growth 💜 My team will vouch for my high energy and positive attitude to cheer and how much I love to encourage people. As Social Sec and Spark Captain, I’ve worked hard to build team spirit, create a positive environment and bring everyone together ✨ I’m also currently working towards my L1 cheer qualification, and I’m excited to use my skills, energy and dedication to help the team thrive and reach new heights 📣 While also creating and environment where people feel comfortable to learn and practice new skills. 💜💜💜🙌🏼🙌🏼
I started cheerleading this year in my first year of Uni and fell in love through my time on Flash and my stunt group Volt. Joining UCL cheer was the best decision I could have made and want to encourage others to do the same. I’ve developed a lot in cheer this year and a huge part of that has been the rec and varsity sessions I’ve attended. They’ve given me amazing opportunities to work with higher level cheerleaders and develop my skills further and I would love to be a bigger part in this! I want to further promote rec as a time to learn new skills as well as neaten fundamentals and encourage and organise people working with others outside of their team. I want to encourage utilising rec sessions to practise jumps and tumbling by taking requests from members on what they want to work on and dedicating space within a rec session to focus on this, as well as being a space for members who can’t commit to a team to develop. I was previously a gymnastics coach, running sessions independently and choreographing routines, and love helping people develop through a sport. Being rec and varsity captain would allow me to continue this. It would allow me to help new and experienced cheerleaders get more comfortable within the sport and show themselves what they are capable of. Varsity (which I’m excited to be part of this year) is an amazing opportunity to show the rest of UCL what cheer can do, and I would love to organise a strong, well-prepared programme to display this.
Hi Lightning ⚡️💜🩵 My name is Sade, and I’ve been cheering for three years, going into my fourth season this fall! I started cheer in America 🇺🇸, and this is where I first learned about game day energy, performances, and poms. This year was my first season on Lightning, and being here helped bring back my love for cheer. It reminded me why I started and made me excited to keep improving.
Right now, I compete at Level 2 NT with my #boltbaddies, I love “breaking dishes” 🎶 as much as boundaries ⚡️💜 and Level 3 NT outside of UCL. I really enjoy cheer because I believe growth happens step by step. Cheer isn’t about being perfect right away, it’s about showing up, learning, and getting a little better each time. I want to help others feel confident, improve their skills, and be proud of their progress 🩵.
I care about helping both rec and varsity feel supported. For rec sessions, I want people who are new, constantly practicing, or trying something for the first time to be able to surprise themselves and encouraged to learn. For varsity, I want training to stay focused and consistent so we can keep improving routines, performance energy, and team confidence, while keeping that spark for KCL 🦁 😝
Fun Fact: I flew once, and thought I was at extension when I was at prep.
I’m excited to lead with passion, share my ideas, and keep rec and varsity thriving! I would be honoured to be your captain, and to have your vote. 🗳️
Thank you all, and lots of #lightninglove! ⚡️
