Cheerleading Club: Publicity Officer

Heyy everyonee!! I’m Amber and im running to be your next publicity officer for UCL Cheer ⚡️💜!! I adore that cheer is more than just a sport but such a safe space and i hope to display the energy and family-like nature of this community to our audience. Having previously been a publicity officer in high school I believe i have this experience to edit, promote, and grow our page for not only recruitment reasons, but to celebrate our athletes and strengthen our identity as a club. With my experience in content creation and am confident in blowing up our instagram with new ideas out on a weekly 📣💥!!

As publicity officer i will plan out a schedule to ensure consistent, high-quality posts are being released, showcasing trainings, comps, and of course socials🕺as well as behind the scenes content🙈 for ucllightning to reach as many people as possible esp during freshers and welcome weeks🤗! Taking inspiration from our lift ups after each training session, I would like to introduce a star of the week to highlight and celebrate individual members from the society. 

I want UCL lightning to have a social presence that matches our talent, dedication, and team spirit. I hope our platform and our page will make people think ‘i want to be a part of that’🥹. I am standing for Publicity Officer because I want to encourage as many people as possible to join UCL Lightning. Joining cheer was one of the best decisions of my first year at university, and I want every new student arriving in September to see just how incredible this club is and the amazing opportunities it offers. 

For me, social media was the first place I went to when deciding whether to try out. The content I saw genuinely influenced my decision. That’s why I would love to run both Instagram and TikTok. I would love creating exciting, engaging posts that show the community and achievements of UCL Lightning. I want our platforms to reflect not just how talented we are, but how supportive and fun our team is!

I am creative, organised and proactive. I love planning and managing my time effectively, so I will always be reliable when it comes to posting, promoting events and keeping our social media active and engaging. I’m ready to bring fresh ideas to help UCL Lightning grow even more!!

I am standing for Publicity Officer because I want to showcase the energy, community, and achievements of UCL Lightning. I want to ensure everything the club does is visible, and achievements and events are celebrated so that Lightning continues to grow and attract new members.

Joining cheer has been one of my best decisions since arriving at university. Being part of this team has given me confidence, my friends, and some of my favourite memories at UCL. Because of that, I want to help make sure other people can discover Lightning and experience the same thing.

I currently serve as the Marketing and Media Representative for Biochemistry Society, where I manage social media promotion and help communicate events clearly. This has given me experience creating engaging content, organising posting schedules, and understanding what works best for student audiences online.

I know that publicity plays a huge role in shaping how people see Lightning, especially during key moments like Freshers when consistent posts and engaging content can encourage new members to join. If elected, I would focus on keeping our social media active and exciting through regular content from trainings, competitions, and club events.

I spent the better part of my second year as the Publicity Officer of UCL Singapore Society, and this one year of doing publicity has not only given me the expertise to do even better for Lightning, but also, made me even more inspired to continue publicity work for another society. To me, the role of publicity officer is to bear witness to the heart and soul each athlete of UCL Lightning pours into the society.

Good publicity lies in the people that are a part of it, featured in every story, post and reel, not in the amount of content churned out. With more content that features YOU, I hope to make UCL Lightning’s Instagram more people-centric, to serve the dual purpose of engaging with more people, while allowing our page to serve as a memory log to document our best moments as a community. Cheer is not just about showing people just what we’ve got on the mat, but about the love that every athlete puts in behind the scenes 💜

I am a master of doomscrolling, staying updated with the latest trends, and stalking other societies’ publicity games. This means you can look forward to TRAILERS, HIGHLIGHT REELS and PHOTO DUMPS AND MONTAGES to look back upon fondly when all is said and done.

Helloo everyone!! I am Xilin from Flash running to be your next publicity officer for UCL Lightning!!

Joining Lightning in my first year has been one of the most rewarding parts of my uni experience so far. It has exceeded all my expectations, from the energy in training to hitting ZERO in comp 🤩🤩 This club’s team spirit is truly unmatched, and there’s so much love among our Lightning family, it is so so special 🫶🏼🫶🏼

I believe first impressions are very important, and a lot of us got our first impressions of Lightning on Instagram (including me 🥳🥳), that’s why I decided to run for publicity officer! Lightning has become a community that means so much to me, and I want to continue spreading the Lightning spirit through our social media, both on Instagram and TikTok 🙌🏼🙌🏼. As a student currently studying media, I genuinely enjoy spending my time on storytelling, digital content creation, and photography. I also have experience managing and creating posts for two club-related Instagram accounts, so what’s better than using these skills to capture the real heart of Lightning⁉️⁉️ I want club members to feel proud every time they see Lightning on social media, and to create frequent, high-quality posts that make future members want to be part of Lightning, just like how I felt before I joined 😽😽 But most importantly, I am here to share the joy of cheerleading and show everyone what a phenomenal club we are!! 💜💜⚡️⚡️
