Hi everyone! My name is Rina, and I am running to be your Club Secretary for next season.
Lightning has been the highlight of my university experience. Over the past two years, I've had the privilege of serving first as Captain and now as Publicity Officer. As Captain, I learned to lead under pressure and foster cohesion within a diverse team. As Publicity Officer, I strengthened my organisation and creativity. Being on committee has shown me how much planning, thought, and care it takes to keep this club running smoothly, and I am ready to take on that responsibility.
I am running because I care deeply about the experience we create together. Lightning has always been built on warmth, inclusivity, and a strong sense of family. That culture is sustained by organisation and teamwork behind the scenes. From managing competition entries to supporting the President and Treasurer, I want to help strengthen the systems that make this club so special.
Next season, I am ready to:
- Implement clear deadline tracking systems to reduce last-minute pressure.
- Create a shared digital hub for key dates and information.
- Introduce task trackers to ensure committee plans are executed efficiently.
As I enter my final year at Lightning, I want to give back everything I've learned.
I am ready to step into this role with full commitment and help build a season where every member feels proud to be part of this family.
Thank you so much for reading, I would truly appreciate your support 💜
Hi Lightning ⚡️💜
I'm Ophelia and I’m running to be your club secretary next year!
Joining Lightning in September was the best decision I’ve made at Uni. Being a part of Strike has highlighted to me just how much work occurs behind the scenes to help training, competitions and events run seamlessly, and I’d love to contribute to this.
Prior to Uni, I led Biology Society, was Cheer Captain and mentored students in Bio + Chem. Balancing leadership roles, alongside A-Levels + an EPQ, taught me how to manage multiple deadlines, adapt quickly to last-minute changes and communicate with clarity. In busy periods, I relied on structure and developed strong organisation systems using Notion to schedule deadlines and commitments.
As secretary, I'd aim to:
⚡️Improve newsletter accessibility, by formatting it as a PDF, distributed via email, and pinned in the club WhatsApp - making key information easier to locate
⚡️Introduce a shared committee tracking system (e.g. a joint Notion) to improve deadline visibility and communication across roles
⚡️Collaborate with the Pres and Tres to ensure comp deadlines and administrative processes are streamlined and proactive
As a fresher, I've experienced how crucial a strong committee is in shaping someone’s first impression of a club. I'm so lucky to have experienced such a welcoming group during freshers events, which helped me fall in love with Lightning!
I would be honoured to be involved in the running of a club I care about so deeply! 💜
Thank You!!
Hi everyone! I’m Kali, and I’m part of Flash ⚡
I actually only started cheer in my second year of university, but it quickly became one of the best parts of my uni experience. Joining Lightning gave me a real sense of community and belonging, and it made university feel far less scary. Because of that, I’d love the opportunity to give back and help maintain the inclusive and supportive environment that made such a difference for me.
I’m someone who is very organised, proactive, and reliable. This year I’ve balanced university, a placement at an engineering firm, and cheer, which has taught me how to manage deadlines, communicate clearly, and stay calm under pressure. I know the secretary role involves a lot of behind-the-scenes work and I’m confident I can handle those responsibilities while keeping everything running smoothly for the team.
For next year, I’d also love to make the newsletter more engaging and useful by introducing things like:
• short insights from coaches about the inspiration and work that goes into their routines
• updates from different committee members so everyone knows what’s happening behind the scenes
• a clear calendar showing upcoming socials, events, and competition dates so members can easily stay informed
Lightning has already given me so much, and I’d love the chance to contribute my organisation, enthusiasm, and commitment to helping the club thrive next year.
Thank you 💜
