About Me :)
Hey! I'm Andrea, an International Management student running for Treasurer this year. I have been managing “budgets” for my whole life. From recording my daily expenses, budgeting for my high school prom night, to my previous operational work experience in a trading company. I learned that good financial management isn’t just about numbers - it is about Attention To Detail. I believe that money should be used wisely to create a meaningful impact for everyone involved.
My Goals:
- Efficient Budgeting System - Work closely with event heads to plan realistic cost estimates, keep records organized that are accessible to the committee to make informed decisions instead of reactive ones.
- Allocate Funds Strategically - Balance short-term event needs with long-term financial health to ensure sustainability while maximizing impact.
- Support Future - Develop simple financial guidelines for future treasurers that make future leadership stronger and more confident.
Hi! I'm Helen Meng from Population Health Sciences. I firmly believe I'll be a responsible and effective Treasurer of Business Society.
As Treasurer, I'll manage the society's finances clearly and effectively. That means tracking and reporting revenue and expenses monthly, processing reimbursements quickly, and making sure members get value from their membership by tracking the impact of events. I'll also handle budgeting for hackathons, socials, food, drinks, and marketing- and help identify the most impactful sponsorships we can pursue within our budget.
I've got the background to back this up. I took on 2 student consulting roles with 180DC/ UCL Consulting, gaining insights on profit/cost analysis. As VP of Med Access Network in high school, I managed budgets for hygiene workshops- splitting funds across locations, sponsorships, equipment, and printing, and tracking every dollar. I also had a US marketing internship where I negotiated MOQs and pricing with 100+ customers for an accessory manufacturer, so I'm comfortable with numbers and client relations. On top of that, I manage my own investment portfolio across ETFs and commodities, which has taught me how to research, track, and make informed financial decisions.
If elected, I'll be responsible, organized, and focused on making sure the team can flourish without worrying about finances- so we can keep delivering the best experience to our members.
Hi everybody, I'm Sarp. I’m putting myself forward for Treasurer because someone has to make sure the society doesn’t accidentally spend the whole budget in week one. Jokes aside, I think this role is about keeping things organised and making sure the society’s money is used in ways that actually benefit members.
Having been involved in the society this year as FYR of Director, I’ve seen how many great ideas come from the team. New events, collaborations, competitions, and projects that people are genuinely excited about. I’d love to help support those ideas by making sure budgets are planned properly, resources are allocated fairly, and that we’re thinking ahead rather than reacting last minute. Good financial planning can actually open the door for more opportunities, whether that’s bigger events, better partnerships, or simply making sure everything runs smoothly.
Nothing glamorous, but very necessary and hopefully done well enough that no one ever has to think about it too much.
I have huge passion for the principles behind UCL's Business Society, specifically regarding aims to increase practical experience in finance, accounting and other sectors, to the university body. For example, taking part in the Pitch Competition earlier this academic year, and winning the corporate finance division, affirmed this passion. In this vein, I would love to contribute my own time to helping the society run smoothly, and ensure financial stability, by representing YOU, the university body, as the society's treasurer.
