Boat Club: Social Secretary

I am applying for this role in order to bring levels of alcoholism in this club to another level, my vision is that u can not be not drinking and be bad at rowing, unless you going to win a gold medal in los angels olympics, me and my fellow colleague Atticus the quagmire will make you forget every Wednesday night the way that you remember it. Its time to step out from casual drinking and enter competitive.

Collaborations with other clubs and societies, more karaoke (i quite like it) pub crawls and just more fun are guaranteed, trust.

Together we Make Boat Club Great Again

Hello! I’m Cordelia and if you don’t know me, you don’t go to Phineas enough — and if you do, you’ve probably been subjected to my inability to stop talking after a pint (sorry, not sorry).

I am running to be your social sec next year because there is nothing I love more than a Wednesday social and I would love to encourage people to be able to say the same, drinking or otherwise. I want to build on Chiara and Kate’s excellent work this year and keep up the good vibes.

Experience wise, I specialise in polls, enthusiasm and drinking too much too early and I have learnt a lot from UCLBC socials, from being kicked out of Thames HORR Afterparty and sneaking past security who think you’re “too intoxicated” I would love to be able to impart my copious amount of wisdom on the younger generation, but also make sure that we’re a club who look after each other, just like those around looked after me in these situations. I also know how to have fun sober and I want to ensure UCLBC socials continue to be a welcoming space for everyone and that includes continuing our work as a club where you can make friends for life.

I have had such a wonderful last two years at UCLBC and would love the chance to be able to ensure others can say the same.

Here’s to another amazing, social-filled year where I can (hopefully) have a reason for prioritising socials! Some people call it a problem but I would love to be able to call it a committee position.

We need better chat in the boat club, pub crawls, fun themes, more drinking. Yehorr and I will save this boat club Wednesday by Wednesday from the depths of irrelevancy and sober people. we will also save the boat club from Scala, changing to other different clubs, and potentially doing more joint socials with other boat clubs. MAKE UCLBC GREAT AGAIN (we will make the hats if we win)

I’m standing for Social Sec because I want to keep the BC vibes immaculate. For me, the boat club is more than just early mornings on the water; it’s about the community we build off it.

My goal is to honor our long-standing traditions while adding a fresh twist to our social calendar. I want to balance the classic Phineas nights with events that everyone can get excited about, such as:

• Post-regatta BBQs to celebrate our wins (and drown our sorrows) together.
• Monthly crew dates to strengthen the bond between squads.
• Creative socials to make sure everyone feels included.

Beyond the events, I’ll be the designated club photographer, capturing all the chaotic and wholesome moments on camera. I want to document our journey so that when we look back, the boat club is undeniably the best part of our uni experience.
