Zakhos Lekkas

I’m running for Social Secretary, mainly because I’ve realised something important over the past two years in this club: rowing is only about 10% rowing and 90% Pintsss!!! And I think I’m uniquely qualified for that.

Over the last two years, I’ve been a very committed member of this club. I’ll never get to Gunnersbury more than 10 mins before an outing; nonetheless, I'll be first on the couch at sports night. If the club tracked sports night attendance the way it tracks erg scores, I’d be recruited for UL.

It was the amazing Dan and Ella, and their impeccable chairing of circle that kept me in RUMSBC and I hope to do the same with the next wave of novices. I can’t promise I can organise a Nov Men 8 outing, but I can promise their attendance at sports night.

And while I fully respect this club’s strong and historic relationship with pints, I also want to make sure our socials are inclusive for everyone. Not every social has to revolve around drinking, so I’d also organise things like crew dinners, games nights, and other events where people can actually remember the evening the next day. The goal is just to make sure everyone in the club — whether they’re there for the rowing, the socials, or somewhere in between — feels welcome and wants to be part of it.

So if elected, I promise I’ll finally learn the rules to circle… and make sure any coach driver we get understands that rowing performance is directly linked to post-outing hydration.

Apiraami Manivannan

Heyy Everyone,

My name is Apiraami, and I'm running to be your social sec?!!

RUMSBC has been my safe space, and I would love to be a part of helping it grow even further.
By electing me as your social sec, I promise to:

  • Promote more non-drinking events
    • Charity Shop Extravaganza
    • Games Night
  • Create a safe and supporting environment
  • And always drink a pint incredibly slowly

I would also love to introduce one or two themed sportsnights

  • Cops and Robbers
  • (REDACTED)

I also have an amazing tour idea which I would love to execute!!

Most of all I would love to be a part of integrating the incoming freshers.
I believe I am a friendly (more goofy) face, and I'm always up for a yap.

If you're ready for another exhilirating year in RUMSBC, vote for me ;)

Isobel Edmead

I put the mead in Edmead and the PINT in Isobel and am so hyped to be running for social sec this year. I've really made use of my social membership this year. A particular highlight is ending up outside itsu regent street with a GCS of 6 x

After kicking off the year with teet tour, I've been inspired by my role model, rohizzle, and hope to honour her during my prospective reign next year. Being banished each week has given me the experience to understand what it takes to keep circle calm and collected. And all this yap has greatly increased my FEV1 for shouting at Rahul. Furthermore, social sec is the only role where it's acceptable to speak in circle.

BUT despite my yap, I've continually shown my dedication to the circle- making it to sports night (on time) after being mowed down by a taxi and with my (rapid) pint time.

I'll set an example for the future generation of RUMSBC that rowing is compatible with backing BEV #workhardplayhard? (again taught by my role model xanthalasma) and plan to introduce many more themes to sports night with my unlimited list of funky fresh ideas, including a much awaited mead-drinking night in honour of me

Of course, as a r(ower), I believe in the good s(ober) sports night so will plan some lit socials for the daytime or without alcohol as well as introducing some running/cycling/spa day events

Zakhos and I are a dream team and look forward to leading the future of RUMSBC socials into the sunset (whilst making the most of our free Scala drinks)
