Ephraim Haile

I am standing for the role of Press Secretary as I believe my academic and professional background has equipped me with the skills necessary to fulfil this position effectively. My course places a strong emphasis on communications, providing me with numerous opportunities to develop my ability to convey information clearly, concisely, and with impact qualities that are fundamental to the responsibilities of a Press Secretary. I want to focus on digital content, such as Youtube.

Furthermore, I have prior experience in this role, which has given me a practical understanding of the demands and expectations involved. This experience has not only built my confidence but has also provided me with a clear framework for how to operate effectively, manage communications, and represent an organisation with integrity. I am committed to bringing diligence, strong communication, and a proactive approach to this position, building on the work of others.

Chiara Buchanan

Hi, I’m Chiara, a 2nd year Art History student and last year’s Social Secretary. Through being on committee and part of senior women’s squad, I’ve come to understand this club not just how it runs, but what makes it so special. I’ve seen how much dedication and energy goes into training, racing, and building the community we’re part of, and I want to make sure that this is properly reflected through our media so the work everyone puts in is truly visible.

My main aims as Press Sec would be to promote the club and attract new members, to show more of our training and day to day commitment on Instagram, and to ensure inclusivity across all squads. We train consistently across multiple squads, and our media should reflect that. It’s important to me that everyone feels equally represented and that every squad’s effort and achievements are recognised.

Through my background in visual arts and photography, I have design skills and an eye for presentation. I care about visual identity and consistency, and I would put genuine time and effort into making our media cohesive, engaging, and reflective of who we are. I’ve also had the pleasure of getting to know so many people in the club, and I genuinely enjoy communicating and connecting with others, which I think is a valuable skill for this role. Having already been on committee, I understand the responsibility of representing everyone, and I would do my best to make sure our club is shown at its absolute best. 💙🚣‍♀️

Cordelia Deering

Hello all! I think most of you know me, for better or worse, but for those who don’t: Hi, I’m Cordelia and I am running to be your press sec next year!

Not only am I a fiend for hashtags and emojis and an expert at the algorithm thanks to co-running my squad’s world-famous Instagram (150 followers 🙏), writing is my specialty. What I lack in many things, I make up for in writing. As an aspiring journalist, I’ve gained experience from writing in my old school newsletter as well as F1 articles and race summaries for a public website — and, of course, I’m a member of Pi media.

I hope to keep up the good communications within our squad and with our alumni and build a strong voice for UCLBC in the rowing community.

There’s nothing I aspire to more than to post your race crews to the world and show them how much fun UCLBC is.

I would love to be your social media admin <3
