Boat Club: Novice Men's Captain

I’m standing for Novice Men’s Captain because I want to give back to the squad by training and supporting the next group of novices coming into the club. This year has taught me a huge amount technically, physically, and mentally and I want to apply what I’ve learned to help others develop faster and more confidently than I did at the start. 

I understand how overwhelming the novice year can feel since they need to learn technique from scratch, adapt to intense training, and find their place in a new team. Having been through that process, I know what motivates people and how a clear structure makes the biggest difference.

I’m sociable, approachable, and comfortable leading from the front. I want to build a culture where novices push each other, take training seriously, and enjoy the process. I’ll prioritise technical foundations and high standards from day one because long-term growth is built on discipline and consistency.

I also want to support communication between novices and senior members, so no one feels lost or overlooked, and so we can foster the same tight-knit, supportive community that made such a difference this year.

My goal is simple: to develop a cohesive, hardworking novice squad that improves rapidly, races with confidence, and sets the standard for future years.
