Boat Club: Cox Captain

As someone who has been on both sides of the boat, as a rower and a cox, I want to be able to support the cox squad next year to bring in more training, more confidence and therefore more capable coxes for our crews. I have coxed across multiple squads now and understand the impact that consistency- and the lack of - can have on crews. My goal, therefore, is to build more structure in how the coxes operate in the next year.

My primary goals are:

1. Continuing the excellent work of our current captain to standardise coxes to have their own days such that training sessions are more reliable for both coxes AND crews.

2. Earlier initial integration with senior crews, this will help coxes build their confidence and allow you all to have better coxes, faster. It also builds familiarity with race standards and expectations for crews!

3. Coxing, like rowing, is a skill, and deserves progression! I want to find more opportunities for coxes to learn and be taught, especially on the tideway, to make us not just safe, but confident in competitions therefore more competitive overall.
