I nominate for vice president.

Radia Mekouar

I’m Radia, a first-year Medical Physics student :) I’m running for Vice President because I would love to help grow the Biophysics Society into an active and engaging space for students interested in the intersection of physics and biology. As someone particularly interested in areas like nanotechnologies and emerging bio-quantum research, I’m really excited about the potential of this field and the community around it at UCL!

Personally, I find it really exciting to study physics at a time when it plays such a vital role in medicine and healthcare. Being at UCL, a place where soooo much research is happening in these areas is an incredible opportunity, and I would love for the society to reflect that by being an active space where students can explore these topics together!

I’ve previously taken on leadership roles in both research and community initiatives, which gave me experience in organisation and teamwork. When I see that something is missing, I like to take initiative, which is what led me to found a research club to engage students in scientific research (and organise weekly workshops from scratch...) I really enjoy sharing what I’m passionate about and creating opportunities for more students to get involved :)

I’d love to continue in that spirit and use this role as another chance to share these interests and help others make the most of their time at UCL!
