Hi, I’m Melissa, and this year I’ve had the pleasure of serving as Marketing and Outreach Officer for BBI. Over the past year, I have tripled our online engagement, increased turnout at events, and helped organise numerous successful collaborations with other societies. My focus has been on building a strong presence for BBI, transforming our social media into an engaging platform that reflects the professionalism and ambition of our think tank.
What I value the most about this role is the creative direction behind it, shaping how BBI presents itself, designing memorable materials, and ensuring our message reaches a wider audience. I set out to truly make the BBI page distinctive and impactful, I am proud of the progress made and the positive response it has received.
If re-elected, I pledge to:
- Continue delivering consistent, high-quality content that keeps our audience informed and engaged.
- Further develop innovative promotional materials for events and campaigns.
- Strengthen and expand partnerships with external organisations and fellow think tank societies.
- Build on this year’s momentum to grow our reach and influence even further.
This role has equipped me with valuable skills in digital marketing, organisation, and strategic communication. More importantly, I have developed a clear vision for how BBI can continue to grow. I would value the opportunity to continue building on what has been achieved and bring even more creativity to the year ahead.
Hey everyone, my name is Sophia and I’m very excited to run for Head of Outreach at BBI!
Outreach is about visibility, connection and consistency. In this position I will work to ensure the projects BBI produces don’t just exist within our research sub-groups, but that they are seen and engaged with by peers at UCL and beyond. The first steps for this are ensuring that we develop strong connections with other student networks on campus and that our social media presence is very strong:
As Social Secretary for UCL’s largest student publication this past year, I planned large-scale events and coordinated with multiple societies to expand our reach. I'm no stranger to social media managment, either! In high school, I increased our long-established student newspaper’s Instagram following by about 25% over two years. I did this by creating more visually distinctive content, introducing short-form content and refining graphics to be sharper and more cohesive. (Canva is also a very important creative outlet for me -- trust I know my way around her!!)
As Head of Outreach, I will prioritise consistent and engaging publicity materials to broaden our audience, while making use of connections to develop collaborations across and beyond campus. Put your trust in me to bring intentionality to our outreach strategy, without making it feel impersonal :)
