Hi! My name is Nyleve and I would like to be your treasurer in the next academic year.
I am standing to be Treasurer because the role combines my interest in psychology and decision-making with the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility within BIS. I am particularly interested in how behavioural science can be translated into real-world initiatives, and effective financial management is essential for making these ideas possible. For example, when organising the BIS Ball, I would ensure the society has sufficient funds and assess financial risk before committing to venue hire or services, while demonstrating value for money by comparing quotes from multiple suppliers. Any income generated through ticket sales would be recorded accurately and deposited promptly through approved Students’ Union processes.
Managing finances requires organisation and attention to detail which are skills that closely align with behavioural science principles such as planning, accountability, and evaluating outcomes. I am motivated to ensure the society’s funds are used effectively to support events such as the careers fair, workshops, and initiatives that make behavioural science accessible and engaging for members. Taking on this role would allow me to contribute practically to the society’s growth while developing valuable financial and leadership skills transferable to future academic and professional settings.
Thank you for your time!
Hi everyone!
My name is Heidi, and I am a second-year Psychology undergraduate. Having been an active member of the Behavioural Innovations Society for two years, I have developed a profound sense of belonging in this community. This year, I’m excited to apply for the role of Treasurer to continue contributing to BIS in a meaningful way. As a society dedicated to applying behaviour science to real-world challenges, I understand that strong, transparent financial management is what enables us to deliver high-impact work and keep our events accessible and ambitious.
Last year, I led one of BIS’s largest programmes. Coordinating its projects required meticulous team management, timeline oversight and regular progress reporting, all of which gave me a comprehensive understanding of BIS’s operational structure and how resource availability directly influences project success. Complementing this, my studies in statistical modelling have strengthened my analytical mindset, and my proficiency in Excel, honed through handling datasets and tracking project metrics, has equipped me with numeracy, data organisation and basic accounting skills essential for the Treasurer role.
I hope I will be your Treasurer next year. Thank you for your support!
