I am running for the position because it is the best way for me to help the Club - which I have grown quite fond of in the last six months - through applying my skills and experience.
As opposed to my pitching and batting, I am somewhat decent with numbers and Excel spreadsheets, as some of you may have seen when looking into my work as the team's statistician and scorekeeper this year. In addition to understanding how to keep track of things like finances and logistics, I can go as far as saying that I enjoy doing this in my spare time!
During my undergraduate studies, I was the Operations Manager (and Marketing & Sponsorship lead prior to that) for Oxford's Formula Student team, where I oversaw spending reaching into five figures for the development of an electric racecar. I strongly believe I can apply the knowledge I gained there, and developed later, in my work for UCL Baseball.
Prior to starting my PhD, I worked for a major international organisation, which made me appreciate the importance of transparency - having conducted data protection audits there - and cooperation across different departments. I also worked through layers of bureaucracy that would make anything else smooth sailing in comparison...
I want to focus on two simple things as the Treasurer: properly spending the money we have, and working towards getting more of it. I will help ensure that the Club continues to achieve great results, and help it become even better, in more ways than one.
I have really enjoyed being part of the baseball club and would love the opportunity to contribute more by taking on the role of treasurer.
