Baking Society: President

Hi, my name’s Troy and I want to be your STAR BAKER! I mean, Baking Society President! I am currently a second year BSc Sociology student with a HUGE passion for everything baking! From watching the Great British Bake Off, to developing my very own delicious recipes, baking has become an important outlet for me at university for catching up with friends and sharing the bakes I would have made anyway.

Why voting for me is a recipe for success 😍

I can do more than just bake a good chocolate chip cookie - As Head Boy in my 6th form, I already have experience fostering a welcoming, fun, and supportive community, while also managing a committee which is productive, committed, and overall listens to what YOU, are asking for. Having attended every Baking Society event this year, I know the secret ingredients that could make events even more brilliant! You can expect more film nights (with bakes, of course!), tours of the BEST bakeries that London has to offer, more innovative society collaborations, and a BAKING SOCIETY EXCLUSIVE recipe book. I want to make sure that you get the most out of your membership to this society – organising events which are fun, engaging, chilled, and cooked evenly all the way through!

What have we achieved this year?!!

- Baking Society’s most successful year yet, with over 600 members across our different membership tiers! WOW!

• We’ve been on TV! 📺 🧁Plus had the chance to be in front of a number of celebrities!!
• Collaborated on a record number of Bake Sales, and helped to raise $$$$’s for some incredible causes!
• Our event turnouts have been larger than ever with plenty of bake shares and bake at home/ creative making events!

Goals for next year…. we can always do more!

• Let’s get Baking Society in an actual kitchen! I’ve worked hard for us to gain access to local kitchens in London, however next year we will BAKE, with a number of interactive workshops so we can get more people in the kitchen and hands on! This is my priority, and endeavour to make this happen!  🍰👩🏽‍🍳👨🏼‍🍳
• Increase our outreach with local communities! Baking is so much more than bake sales! We need to collaborate with those beyond UCL! 💪🧁🤩
• Increase the capacity of our events! Our events have sold out super quick this year, therefore increasing tickets and capacity is on the agenda for next year!
