Sumira Khan

I am standing for the role of Social Media Officer for the Bahá’í Society at University College London as a Muslim who deeply values interfaith dialogue, unity, and service. Although I am not Bahá’í myself, I have great respect for the Bahá’í principles of unity, peace, and community-building, which strongly resonate with my own faith and values.

UCL is an incredibly diverse environment, and I believe societies have a unique opportunity to build bridges between communities. As someone from a different faith background, I feel I can bring a perspective that emphasises inclusivity and openness. I would aim to ensure that the Society’s social media presence is welcoming not only to Bahá’ís, but also to students of all beliefs who are curious, interested in dialogue, or simply looking for a sense of community.

Through thoughtful and creative content, I would highlight the Society’s events, share reflections that inspire unity, and showcase the warmth and spirit of its members. My goal would be to help create an online space that reflects both the Bahá’í teachings and the diverse student body at UCL.

Ultimately, I am standing for this role because I believe in collaboration across faiths and backgrounds. I would be honoured to contribute to strengthening the Society’s presence and helping it connect meaningfully with the wider UCL community.
