Gardiana Melo
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I am approachable, organised and genuinely care about creatives and arts societies. I am always up for a good chat about your ideas and your society’s next big plan. I bring experience in teamwork and event planning where everyone feels welcome and heard.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to make the arts community at UCL more visible, connected and supported. I’ll help people and arts societies to collaborate, share events and get their work seen and celebrated.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me if you want an Officer who listens, communicates and delivers. I’ll make sure the arts at UCL feel fun, fair and vibrant.

Ruby Gilmore (She/Her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Hi I’m Ruby :)

You might recognise me from Sister Act last term! So far I’ve been involved in lots of different societies and have a good mix of committee, cast and production experience so I’d definitely bring a well rounded view to the role, especially in representing the communities views as a whole. Besides this I’ve also been an access mentor here and a volunteer mentor abroad for the last 2 summers working with a variety of ages so I have lots of leadership and collaboration experience I’d bring to the role.

Improving ArtsUCL: collaboration and cohesion !
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I’d hope to improve ArtsUCL in 2 key areas:

  1. Promoting further integration between societies: so the community is more cohesive and inclusive, which would foster more conversation about what students actually want, that can be fed back to people that can make the changes.
  2. Having a safer space for all members of our community to grow: trying to improve diversity (particularly socio-economic diversity which our community definitely lacks) to encourage more people from different backgrounds and skill sets to feel comfortable trying ArtsUCL.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

If I was elected I’d focus on those main principles, whilst maintaining lots of the positive areas of the community as a whole. Ultimately, I feel like I understand the community and its needs/processes well and could offer a varied approach as I’ve seen lots of different sides of ArtsUCL. I’d want to be an advocate for everyone by building my ideas off of what the community wants not what I want and factoring the communities wishes in later. I’d also want to be a friendly face and support everyone and their improvement, no matter if you’ve had years of experience or just a week!

Samaiyrah Ssinha (She/her/hers)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I will bring a combination of creativity, leadership, and a genuine passion for the arts. As someone actively involved in artistic spaces, I understand how important they are for creative and emotional expression. I have worked in leadership roles across my high school career, and possess skills in logistical management, financial management, communication, and collaboration with a large team, and much more. I am also proactive and solution-oriented, meaning I am comfortable listening to student concerns and turning feedback into practical improvements.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I would work to strengthen relationships between arts societies, encourage cross-society initiatives, and create opportunities for students to showcase their work. I want arts societies to feel part of a wider network rather than separate groups, fostering a stronger sense of community within the union. I will also work to improve engagement by ensuring societies have the resources, suport, and promotion they need to thrive. This includes gathering feeback regularly and making sure members' ideas and concerns are represented in decision making spaces.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I will actively listen to your ideas, advocate for your interest, and work to bring you events that you are excited about (and made aware of so you can actually attend). I am commited to building a vibrant, inclusive, and collaborative arts community where every society is a piece of a larger puzzle. I promise to be active and approachable so that your thoughts and insights reach the relevant authorities. A vote for me is a vote for you.

Aaron Lau (He / Him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I am experienced as a cast member in shows such as Tick Tick Boom, and Spelling Bee;  as a prod team member for the MT Concert of The Last 5 Years and MDing small performances for MT Galas; and as stage crew for Drama Soc's Pride Festival, providing me with the perspective of the different parties involved in the arts, and allows me to be accessible to people who wish to communicate their thoughts and opinions as I have a baseline understanding of what they encounter when carrying out their respective roles.

I also have decent time management which means I'll try my best to make time for all.

Just a dude involved in the arts
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Communication: With societies and members of ArtsUCL to ensure their voices are heard, and represent them accordingly.

Welcoming: Encouraging societies to make "newcomer handbooks" summarising how things work in the society.

Fringe: making it more inclusive by organising shows made up of smaller performances like 1 song or excerpts. Removing the pressure for bidders as its not a standalone thing.

Bidding: Encouraging societies to archive past bids making them accessible and to possibly have mock bid interviews to familiarise potential bidders with the process and foster the prod of ArtsUCL.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Being a part of ArtsUCL has been the highlight of my time at UCL and I wish to give back and ensure it is the same for other members of the community.

My continued involvement in arts societies also allows me talk to people from different areas of the community to get their thoughts and opinions on the issues faced by them during their time in ArtsUCL which I could hopefully address as the Arts Officer.
