Improving ArtsUCL: collaboration and cohesion !

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Hi I’m Ruby :)

You might recognise me from Sister Act last term! So far I’ve been involved in lots of different societies and have a good mix of committee, cast and production experience so I’d definitely bring a well rounded view to the role, especially in representing the communities views as a whole. Besides this I’ve also been an access mentor here and a volunteer mentor abroad for the last 2 summers working with a variety of ages so I have lots of leadership and collaboration experience I’d bring to the role.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I’d hope to improve ArtsUCL in 2 key areas:

  1. Promoting further integration between societies: so the community is more cohesive and inclusive, which would foster more conversation about what students actually want, that can be fed back to people that can make the changes.
  2. Having a safer space for all members of our community to grow: trying to improve diversity (particularly socio-economic diversity which our community definitely lacks) to encourage more people from different backgrounds and skill sets to feel comfortable trying ArtsUCL.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

If I was elected I’d focus on those main principles, whilst maintaining lots of the positive areas of the community as a whole. Ultimately, I feel like I understand the community and its needs/processes well and could offer a varied approach as I’ve seen lots of different sides of ArtsUCL. I’d want to be an advocate for everyone by building my ideas off of what the community wants not what I want and factoring the communities wishes in later. I’d also want to be a friendly face and support everyone and their improvement, no matter if you’ve had years of experience or just a week!
