I'm a first-year HPE student. AI spaces can feel intimidating; technically dense, fast-moving, and hard to feel like you can just join in. I want to make sure UCL AI Society is a community where every member, regardless of background or technical level, feels genuinely included and supported.
What I bring:
1. Experience building inclusive communities. Across five years on the student council and MUN/Leadership club President, I've consistently worked to make sure people feel valued and heard : working on mentor-mentee programmes, structured support systems, and open communication channels.
2. Bridge both worlds. Having studied Computer Science through high school and now doing HPE at UCL, I understand both the technical and non-technical sides of this space and what it feels like to navigate between them. Having grown up across multiple countries and cultures, I understand what it feels like to navigate new environments. That informs how I think about inclusion.
My priorities:
1. A welcoming environment for everyone. Actively ensuring members from all disciplines and backgrounds feel at home , not just those with technical backgrounds.
2. More regular informals. Advocating for consistent, low-pressure social events where members can connect as people rather than just as society members.
3. A feedback channel. A simple, accessible way for members to flag concerns or suggestions , making sure welfare issues are caught early and the committee stays accountable to the membership.
