I’m Maddy, 2nd year art history undergraduate, nominating myself for the role of Treasurer and I have a clear vision of what I can bring to Art Business Society:
- Transparent operations
More visibility of the societies budget handling & making sure it is not only the committee who decide where it is best used
- Clearer feedback opportunities
Committee should inform their direction through listening to your ideas for the society, let's have clear and equal communication of what you need Art Business Society to be
- Increasing capacity for events
We need to use a transparent and fair ticketing and waitlist system, and also further utilise brand/society collaborations to fund and expand events
How am I qualified?
- Winner of ArtiqxUCLcareers Art Consultancy Challenge 2025: teamwork, analytical reasoning, working to deadlines
- Came to History of Art through an outreach course: passion for accessibility in the arts, determination, perspective
- Waitress/bartender: patience, problem solving, cash handling
- VIP Services Coordinator at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair: management, communication, working with sponsors
- President of the History of Art Society at 6th form: responsibility, organisation, listening
Vote Maddy if you want to see this happen!
Hi! It’s Miriam, your Events Officer for this academic year.
My favourite part of being on the committee has been seeing students from completely different backgrounds become interested in the art market, the opportunities it offers, and the professionals we host each month to support our number one goal: demystifying the art world.
The popularity of the mentorship scheme and social events among ABS members over the past year has confirmed the rising demand for insight and access within the art sector. This is exactly why I’m running for Treasurer.
I want to ensure that we not only meet but surpass this growing interest in professional development and networking. My primary goal is to maximise the number of people we can bring to every event, providing experiences that are both enjoyable and meaningful. I will guarantee that your membership fee translates into real pathways for learning, connections, and community — through our Gallery Hops, career panels, Frieze visits, or jazz club socials.
With the strong network we’ve established this year, I aim to increase capacity, create more face-to-face interaction, and unlock fresh opportunities for your involvement in the art business.
It was in October 2024 that I attended my first ABS event, and since then, I’ve watched it continuously evolve. My goal is to keep that energy alive — building on the dedication of our previous board, strengthening our society with this incredible committee, and taking it even further with you!
As someone interested in the structure and economics of the art market, I have always aimed to work in an auction house or in an analytical role within the art world. I am particularly drawn to the finance behind cultural institutions and how strategic decisions shape artistic value. With the position of the Art Business Treasurer, I believe I can contribute strong organisational discipline and offer financial responsibility. I am motivated not only by an interest in numbers but by a genuine passion to help the society operate efficiently and grow sustainably.
I am excited to nominate myself for Treasurer of the UCL Art Business Society. I am a History of Art student at UCL with experience in events, museums and supervisory roles. I believe I have the organisation, communication and financial skills to support and strengthen the society.
While working in museums, I developed attention to detail and structured thinking, organising collections and improving documentation systems. I am confident in implementing and maintaining spreadsheets and budgets. My event roles taught me logistical organisation, team coordination, and careful resource allocation, giving me confidence in managing event budgets.
I would ensure spending decisions are clear and strategic, allowing us to hold more formal and exciting events. The Treasurer role is not just about monitoring spending but also about enabling opportunities. Thoughtful budgeting can elevate programming, and I would explore sponsorships to maximise value for members.
I am dependable and accountable, having handled cash, supervised teams and coordinated operations with integrity. As a History of Art student, I am invested in the society’s success and committed to creating opportunities for students exploring careers in galleries, museums and creative industries.
I would be honoured to be the ABS Treasurer and to contribute to a well-organised committee and community.
Hi everyone! I’m Aleana, a second year History of Art student and I’d love to be your next Treasurer!💰
I’m running because I care about keeping ABS organised and running smoothly, so we can keep putting on great events without the behind-the-scenes stuff becoming messy. After two years as an active member, I’ve genuinely loved the panels, socials, and events, and now I’d love the chance to help create the experiences that make ABS so special 🩷.
As Sponsorship and Volunteering Secretary for UCL Cheerleading, I’ve become more than familiar with the joys and frustrations (🥲) of the Students’ Union, and I’m more than ready to take that on again. I’ve secured sponsorships, managed budgets, and planned costs, and I’d bring that same approach to ABS by keeping our finances clear and on track, and supporting the committee so events are properly funded and run smoothly. I’m very team‑oriented, and I’m happiest when everyone’s communicating clearly and supporting each other, especially when things get busy. I really value working closely, checking in, and making sure no one is left carrying things alone. And since Treasurer is admin-central, being glued to my phone means staying on top of messages and keeping everything moving comes naturally to me 📊.
Beyond uni, my internships at art galleries in London and Kuala Lumpur gave me real insight into how the art world works behind the scenes, and I’d love to bring that experience into ABS 🌟.
I hope I can count on your vote! 🗳️✨
