I’m running for President of the Art Business Society because I hugely care about ABS and what it can do for members.
As Marketing Director and Deputy Events Director, I’ve been committed to this society. I’ve had the opportunity to help shape our events, connect with arts professionals, and develop our presence outside of UCL. Being able to serve as Marketing Director has enabled me to connect more closely with members and understand their needs, while assisting with this year's functions has strengthened my organization for the planning of our events. I will be working in the Bermuda Masterworks Gallery this summer, and I plan to bring new skills and connections back to Art Business Society.
As President, I want to build on what we’ve already created. I will strengthen our industry relationships, continue to raise the standard of our events, and ensure that every member feels involved and valued. I would love to hold more specialized panels based off of feedback to help members gain advice and connections, no matter what area of the art market. I want to hear directly from you through polls and open conversations about the kinds of events and opportunities you find useful and exciting. It's important to me to hear if you want more gallery tours, hops, panels, or any other events, and I will build my platform and plans off of collaboration.
I am so excited to run for this position and the year ahead, and I will ensure it is a great one for Art Business Society.
Hi everyone, I’m Emma, and I’ll be starting my Master’s in History of Art at UCL this September. This year I’ve had the privilege of serving as your Treasurer and Deputy Events Officer, and it’s been one of the most rewarding parts of my university experience. I’m standing for President because I care deeply about widening participation in the art market, I really value making it accessible and diverse for everyone regardless of economic and social barriers! Alongside my studies, I work at the National Portrait Gallery, and this experience has allowed me to organise exciting opportunities for our members, including curatorial tours for those interested in careers within national institutions. I’ve loved collaborating with our committee to develop engaging, thoughtful events, and building relationships with leading art market professionals who contribute to our mentorship scheme, giving you direct access to industry insight and the chance to create meaningful connections for your network. As a commuting student, I am passionate for ABS to be a genuine community. I want to expand our social events to ensure everyone has a space to meet students across departments and share the love for the art market. Coming from a family in South Africa and gaining an interest in Spanish and Latin American art, I hope to create some events that explore the global art market specifically. I would be honoured to serve as your President next year and work hard to grow the success of the ABS!
