Hi everyone! I’m Aleana, a second‑year History of Art student, and I’d love to be your next Business Development Officer! 🤝
I’m running because I’m passionate about bringing in fresh voices and new industry perspectives, and I’d love to introduce more talks, panels, and collaborations with speakers who reflect the breadth of the art world today (#LinkedInWarriorWannabe). Since we already have great merch, I’d love to create a distinctive ABS signature that makes our events even more memorable, so professionals leave thinking, “This society stood out, I want to work with them again!” 🎤🌟
As Sponsorship and Volunteering Secretary for UCL Cheerleading, I’ve learned how to secure partnerships, communicate professionally, and navigate the chaos of the SU - experience that’s made me confident pitching ideas and building relationships. That foundation was strengthened by studying History of Art in sixth form, where I won subject prizes and was a Subject Ambassador, and later through gallery internships in London and Kuala Lumpur. Together, these roles taught me how institutions operate behind the scenes, how different parts of the art ecosystem connect, and how to represent a team with clarity and confidence. I’m always keen to visit new exhibitions and speak to people working in the field, and I’d love to channel that curiosity into events that genuinely support members’ career ambitions! 🌍
I hope I can count on your vote! 🗳️🩷
Hey there, it’s Clio :) your candidate for Business Development Officer of the Art Business Society.
I’m currently studying German and History of Art at UCL, and my academic interests are closely connected to the art market and the wider art industry.
Through my experience working with galleries, curatorial projects, museums, and art fairs, I’ve gained valuable insight into how careers develop across different areas of the art world. I’ve had the opportunity to engage with professionals within the art market ecosystem, from gallery networks to exhibition teams, and developed strong experience in building professional relationships, organising events, and connecting with industry partners.
The art world is a connection driven industry. Whether pursuing careers in galleries, auction houses, museums, art advisory, or curatorial practice, access to networks and industry insight often plays a crucial role in opening opportunities.
As Business Development Officer, my goal would be to strengthen the Art Business Society’s connections with the professional art world, helping members gain exposure to different career paths and develop meaningful industry connections.
