Why I am Standing for President of UCL Uzbek Society

My name is Marat Daminov, and I am excited to run for President of UCL Uzbek Society. 🇺🇿✨

Since the foundation of our society, I have been deeply involved in growing our community, fostering connections, and ensuring that Uzbek culture is represented at UCL. This year, I want to take our society to the next level—expanding our events, strengthening collaborations, and creating an even more inclusive and vibrant space for all members.

My Vision for 2025-2026:

Bigger & Better Events – Organizing large-scale cultural celebrations like Navruz Festival 2025 while introducing new social and networking events.
Stronger Community & Connections – Strengthening ties between students, alumni, and other cultural societies to expand our impact at UCL.
Career & Development Opportunities – Bringing industry speakers, networking sessions, and mentorship programs to empower our members beyond university life.
Inclusivity & Representation – Ensuring every voice is heard and that our society remains a welcoming space for all who share an interest in Uzbek culture.

I believe my experience in leading teams, organizing events, and building networks will allow me to make a meaningful impact. With your support, we can continue growing UCL Uzbek Society into something truly special.

Guzal Shadieva

Establishing the UCL Uzbek Society has been a milestone in celebrating and sharing our rich heritage within London’s diverse community. Being involved from its inception, I’ve experienced firsthand the dedication and collaboration required to building a thriving community. Organising events over the past year has allowed us to translate ambitious ideas into successful realities, emphasising teamwork, communication and problem-solving.

As President, my vision is to elevate our society by prioritising innovation, collaboration and meaningful experiences. I plan to enhance and highlight our visibility through strategic branding, diverse events and inviting high-profile speakers who can authentically illuminate Uzbekistan’s culture and opportunities. Additionally, fostering an environment that actively encourages member feedback will be integral to my approach. Ensuring our members' voices shape our society will guarantee continuous growth and prosperity.

My priority will always be to create a welcoming, vibrant home for students passionate about Uzbekistan, eager to explore our culture, and broaden their horizons. I am committed to building upon our strong foundation, leading our society to new achievements, and recreating home in the center of London.
