Owen Tsai

I will start with admissions. I'm not the most experienced MUNer in UCLUNA. My journey started 16 months ago, and by the end of March I will only have been to 10 conferences. I have little crisis experience, which I am looking to gain alongside all of you in the future. I'm not the sharpest speaker, or negotiator, or the perfect delegate in general (that would be Josh, Lincoln or Maria). To become Vice-President of Academics would be a challenge for me.

But I welcome that challenge. From a terrified first-time delegate clinging to the feet of a UK circuit veteran (thanks Avan), to a confident, independent MUNer. From politically passionate but clueless, to becoming well-versed in domestic and international academia (though still clueless in some places, hence why I am always open to conversation and learning). And from someone who didn't even know about MUNs, to a UNA mainstay. The invaluable friendships and experiences I have made here, meant an obligation to give back to this community.

Here is the plan. Internal event diversity is important to address: we must give GA and crisis equal spotlight in our society, and I will write every week to facilitate that. More active teaching of MUNing must be combined with our trademark humour, the key to our identity and inclusivity. And our knowledge and abilities should be rewarded with more career opportunity promotions. I will try, with utmost effort, to make the UCLUNA delegation unique and strong. Thank you all, and please vote.
