I’m excited to nominate myself for the role of Welfare Officer for the UCL Tennis Club. Being part of this club (specifically R&D) has been an incredible experience, and I’d love to take on a more active role in ensuring every member feels supported, included, and valued <3

Sebastian Goodbody

Over the past year, playing for LUSL and attending socials has been a rewarding experience. As a fresher, I know how daunting it can be to join a new society. At my first social, I spent most of the evening trying to disguise the fact that I had completely forgotten the dress theme. That nervousness quickly faded when senior committee members—President Ollie and Social Secretary Addy—introduced themselves and struck up a conversation. From then on, I felt at ease, and understood the impact a friendly and approachable committee can have.

This experience has inspired me to run for Welfare Secretary. I believe that this society should be more than just a shared interest, it should be a supportive and inclusive space where members can escape the pressures of university life. The tennis society has given me that sense of belonging, and I want to ensure others feel the same.

If elected, I will prioritize making everyone feel welcome, whether they're seasoned players or complete beginners. I will be an approachable point of contact for any welfare concerns, so that every member can enjoy their time in the society without worry.
