Vivek Reddy Edulakanti

Hi everyone, my name is Vivek, and I’m excited to be running for Treasurer of the UCL Telugu Society!

I'm a first-year PPE student from Maidenhead, born in Hyderabad, and I've been fortunate to grow up speaking Telugu fluently. As someone who's a big fan of Telugu cinema, music, and culture, I understand how special it is to have a space where people can connect, celebrate our heritage, and build lasting friendships.

If elected Treasurer, my mission will be to support the President in transforming the UCL Telugu Society into a vibrant society that reflects our size and does the things that members want. I believe there’s huge potential to create a society that brings people together—whether you're a native speaker or simply someone curious.

Managing finances effectively will be my goal. As Chief Organiser of my school’s Year 13 Prom, I handled a budget of over £12,000, successfully negotiating with vendors to get the best value for our money. This experience gives me the experience to run the budget effectively. From my time as Head Boy and leader of three school societies, I've gained many leadership experiences which I will bring towards this role!

If elected, I’m committed to helping create a Telugu Society that feels welcoming to everyone — whether you're a lifelong Telugu speaker or someone eager to explore the language and culture for the first time. From lively social events to cultural celebrations, I’ll work hard to ensure our society offers something for everyone.
