I am really excited to run for the position of urology surgery chair this year as I have been involved with the urology department at the UCLH Westmoreland Street with various research projects. I've really enjoyed immersing myself in both fields and would now like to share my passion as a senior medical student to my juniors.
I propose that we encourage medical students to undertake research projects with mentorship not from just consultants but also from senior medical students who are working on research projects. That will provide medical students a step up in applying for postgraduate surgical training programmes which can be quite competitive. I will make a research network and will recruit mentors who are keen and willing to supervise equally keen and willing medical students!
I will also be very keen for medical students to get work experience for which I will be liaising with department's where I am doing research and encourage medical students to go and shadow surgeons and see first hand the wonders of the field.
Lastly, I am a big believer in global surgery and I believe that we should encourage charity and equality in surgery. Hence, I will be keen to organise a charity event the raise money for causes supourted by BAUS.
Thank you for reading my statement I am very grateful for your vote and hope we can together inspire the next generation of surgeon in this field.
Urology is a cutting-edge speciality, yet it remains underrepresented at UCL. I aim to revive engagement and connect students with leading urologists to explore the field’s latest innovations.
Why Me?
International Exposure: Attended international urology conferences to broaden my exposure to the latest advancements in the field.
Cross-University Collaboration: Assisted in the 2024 Undergraduate Radiology Conference involving UCL, St George’s, and Imperial.
Leadership Experience: Helped lead the NHS Future Leaders Conference at Imperial, delivering insights on how students can drive change in the NHS.
Surgical Education: Led the surgical workshop at the ISoc RUMS Humanitarian Conference, providing students with hands-on experience in essential surgical skills.
My Vision
Strengthen student-clinician engagement through interactive talks, panel discussions, and networking events.
Expand hands-on learning with urology-focused surgical workshops (e.g. laparoscopic techniques).
Listen to students interested in urology to tailor events that best support their learning and career aspirations.
📢 Vote for Yaseen – Let’s bring urology to the forefront of UCL Surgery! 🚀

Hi everyone, I’m a 5th-year med student with a passion for urology, particularly endo-urology and robotics. I believe our current exposure to urology is pretty limited and often gives a narrow view of what the field can really offer.
If elected, I plan to :
- Organise workshops featuring fancy gadgets . My goal is to bridge the gap between textbook theory and the cutting-edge reality of modern urology, making our training more engaging.
- Gaming competitions with an urology twist, for the nerdy side in all of us. Having fun is important as well.
