Surgical Society: Treasurer

I want to be treasurer as I wish to get more involved in the surgical society core committee and help out by ensuring SurgSoc events run as smoothly as possible.

You should vote for me as I am a very organised person and have assisted in running several events both through SurgSoc and outside of SurgSoc. These events required extensive financial planning and organisation. The SurgSoc events required lots of liaising with both other members from committee and with members of other committees which are also useful skills as if I were voted treasurer I would need to speak with members of the society and committee in regards to all financial planning.

I plan on working closely with the future president as well as VPs in regards to planning events. I will set up a form for specialty chairs to explain any events they plan on holding once elections are over to get an idea of what to expect over the year. I also plan on speaking to the future president in regards to supplies that we have and have a proper inventory check to ensure we have all the supplies for any events through the year and plan any purchases for anything needed.

I hope to use my skills and plans to ensure SurgSoc runs as smoothly as possible next year and would appreciate your vote in doing so!

Hi everyone, I'm Dylan, current Secretary of Surgical Society!

As Secretary & INUGSC Widening Participation (WP) Officer I have:

• Organised events and conferences, securing £1,000+ funding for a WP conference hosting students for 8 schools
• Built strong ties with the Union and UCL
• Liaised with surgeons to create opportunities for members
• Responsible for keep members informed about events and opportunities

Through these roles, I’ve gained budgeting, negotiation, deadline management and organisation skills – all essential for a Treasurer.

As treasurer, I look forward to financially managing and continuing to drive Surgical Society forward as we offer more high-quality events and opportunities. I aim to do this by focusing on:

1. INVESTMENT: Work with the President and committee to create a central bank of surgical equipment and secure partnerships to replenish stock, enabling more high-quality workshops.
2. ACCESSIBILITY: Secure more sponsorships to make events and conferences more affordable across all subcommittees.
3. INCREASING MEMBERSHIP VALUE: Partner with organisations to provide exclusive member benefits, including discounts on events, conferences and surgical and medical resources.
