Maryam Choudhery

Salaam! I’m Maryam, a second-year Medicine student, and my involvement in SJP has been one of the most rewarding parts of my university experience. As part of the education and research team, I’ve worked alongside students to educate myself and others on critical information about Palestine, reinforcing my belief in the power of knowledge in shaping meaningful activism.

Now more than ever, raising awareness and advocating for justice in Palestine is crucial. Palestinians face unprecedented violence, displacement, and oppression, while attempts to silence their voices and erase their history intensify. We all have a responsibility to stand against this injustice.

In the next academic year, I hope to strengthen our collective voice by organising impactful events, engaging the wider student body, and creating spaces for open discussions. It’s essential to challenge misinformation, amplify Palestinian narratives, and continue BDS efforts to push UCL to divest from companies complicit in Palestinian oppression.

Working alongside passionate individuals to advocate for justice would be an honour. Together, we can build a stronger, united movement at UCL—one that stands firmly against oppression and in solidarity with Palestine.
