As communications officer, I will ensure that not only will I encourage current members to participate in events, but I will also try my best to also spread the word to UCL students to attend these events and thus join the society. This would help engage the UCL community and help the society grow. Furthermore, it would be a privilege to plan and deliver events whilst communicating with other members and getting to know the committee even more to build stronger connections and teamwork. I believe that my planning, communication, teamwork, and organisational skills are strong, which is a requirement for being communications officer, and I hope that my skills would be improved by being communications officer if I get this role.
For a long time, I have been interested in global health, in particular, humanitarian and disaster medicine. This is because the desire to help more vulnerable people in potentially crisis areas on an international scale would be a privilege as my main goal in medicine is to help as many people as I can, not just on a national level in traditional healthcare settings.
I firmly believe that more people should be involved and interested in global health, considering many events and crises going on in the world that affect certain populations’ health and wellbeing. Hence as communication officer, I would be honoured to make this society, and global health in general, stronger and more spoken about.
