Megan Pagett

Hi, I’m Megan, I’m running for Roaming Garage as I believe that it is a great opportunity to be able to work in new spaces and experience the different environments of the theatre. My first show I saw at UCL was a Garage show in the Camden people’s theatre, and it was a great experience to see students in a new space that shows what it is like to work in an off-west end theatre. I want to be able to facilitate this experience of others so that we can expand Stage Crews knowledge.

The constantly changing way of how to work in the theatres that we would be working with is something that I have experience with as I have worked in multiple spaces with NYT, at the Edinburgh Fringe and working in a theatre in Oxford. Each space provided new challenged and new experiences, and I hope to use the knowledge I have gained from working in these theatres to create a fun and safe environment in the spaces that we are unfamiliar with.

Due to the venues that we will be working in, I also hope to provide an educational environment in these spaces to increase more varied knowledge within Stage Crew and the time we have in them so that we can create a good foundation of knowledge inside of a working theatre.

I hope to be able to support and facilitate more external shows that will work with the contracts that ArtUCL are able to receive to give Stage Crew as many opportunities in these new spaces and equipment as possible.

Nikki Khalatbari Tonekaboni

Hi! I’m Nikki and I’ll be going into my 2nd year of law next year. I love theatre (and hate my course) so being part of Stage Crew has been so much fun! I’ve worked on a range of shows in the Blooms, Studio, and externals, picking up skills from each show and learning as I go, but would love the chance to work outside of UCL and expand my horizons beyond our campus🫡.

Whilst I didn’t have the opportunity to work outside of UCL this year, I have prior experience of taking shows to external venues, previously being part of shows taken to the Lowry, the Unity and the Liverpool Playhouse, giving me a background knowledge and understanding of how to plan and communicate with local theatres.

Having just worked on a Studio show as CSM, I feel that I have a good understanding of the needs of each department, able to effectively organise and plan for tech requirements of a show and, most importantly, can guide a crew and provide help where needed. Combined with my other SC and external experience, I have a solid basis of knowledge and skills which would allow me to succeed in this role and bring these shows to life ☆.

Yi Cheng Wong

Having been your Externals Officer, I am already familiar with the process of crewing, managing and running external shows. This means I am adaptable to the variety of spaces performances take place, which is valuable especially for roaming garage shows.

Previously, I have teched a show off-campus in the Theatro Technis in Camden, which was a fun opportunity to work in a completely new environment, and became an extremely memorable experience of mine. Therefore in this role, I will facilitate smooth running of these shows, and ensure crew get the best experience out of them.

Eliza Tomaszuk

Hello, my name is Eliza. I'm a BA Linguistics student going into my third year. I am applying to be roaming garage officer in ordet to bring stage crew outside of the bloomsbury theatre and to collaborate with other local theatres (including ones local to UCL East), as well as expand the experience of stage crew in the london theatre world. I want to make sure that we have several oppurtunities to work with these theatres and potentially meet other professionals with the intention of understand things from their perspective. I would aim for 2 shows a term before and after reading week, with at minimum a singular show per term, focussing especially on term 3 where there is more freedom. I aim to build good relationships with the theatres outside of the blooms so we can look forward to continue collaborations in future years. Theatres we could potentially work with are the camden's people theatre (one we already work with) and Stratford East ( a theatre we worked with during the renovations of the blooms a few years ago).  I hope to be able to participate in this role for the 25/26 year.
