I'd like to be your equipment officer because pushing buttons is fun and teaching Stage Crew members which buttons to push is even more fun! In addition, I love tape (I have a VAST collection of LX tape on my desk at all times) and happen to know a fair bit about the amount of random stuff sitting in the range (and even how to use most of it).
As Equipment Officer, I'd look into purchasing rechargeable batteries for radio mics because walking home with over 100 half-used batteries after every MT show sucks. I'd also set up an inventory system to ensure that between externals, roaming garage, and Blooms, we know where our lustrs and SM57s have ended up at all times. Since I love teaching and training, I would work with the externals officers to run more trainings on the externals equipment - if the Jester mystifies you, it will no more (I feel like I can say this as a former externals officer). And yes, I would ensure that our gaff, lekkie (that's an Australianism, sorry), fluoro, masking, and mic tape levels remain high and happy throughout the year, and that the shiny Stage Crew stickers are on every piece of equipment we own.
Also, I would make sure we get the double ended sharpies. Those are the best.

Hi everyone! My name is Rahul and I’m a first year student studying Computer Science! During my time in Stage Crew I have been able to get involved in a really great range of shows and would love to get the opportunity to represent you on the Stage Crew Committee for 2025/26 as the Equipment Officer.
One of my main goals as Equipment Officer would be to create an online inventory of all equipment and having it accessible to all stage crew members, making it easier to plan out your mic plots or lighting rigs for shows across different venues. Other goals if elected would include:
- Ensuring that there is a supply of backup batteries available for microphones, along with the correct kit needed to properly mic up actors.
- Explore the possibility of purchasing new equipment.
- Introduction of a tracking and reporting system for broken equipment to help identify issues as they arise.
- Run monthly training sessions with our equipment to give members the chance to learn new skills in a low stakes environment.
