As most people studying Engineering and Architectural Design, integrated design is something that I am deeply interested in. I am excited to highlight cutting-edge technologies and research but also more mundane but significant aspects of architecture that impact daily life: balancing technical depth with stories that make readers reflect on the built environment and technology in a more personal, relatable way. I also would want to interrogate Architecture and Engineering as a profession itself, its "eureka moments" and sacrifices, and how it shapes our lives as students studying design.
From struggling to decipher obscure architectural theory books to diving deep into Dezeen articles' angry comment sections, I am fascinated by how architecture and engineering is discussed, critiqued and communicated and would enjoy the editorial challenges of running a publication. As current Vice-President of SEAD, I also have experience in organisational events and fostering dialogue between the two disciplines.

Although practicing architecture and engineering follows vastly different skill sets, I firmly believe what unites it all is a critical approach to design. With a background in graphic design, I am devoted to producing content that reinforces this emphasis on holistic design in the form of, including but not limited to, case studies, articles, interviews, etc. I hope that our content may promote the convergence of the seemingly opposing practices through offering a critical edge on both the intellectual and logistical practices of an 'archi-neer'.

I am excited to apply for the role of chief editor at EAT publications at SEAD. With a background in editorial work, photography, and videography, I look forward to edit and publish submissions from members of the society and working on my own publications.
The thing I would love to do the most as chief editor is to interview professionals both within UCL and externally. I see these interviews as a great way for society members to gain insight into real life projects and find topics that they are interested in.
I also believe that EAT should be a way to ducument the incredible design projects of the members of SEAD. Interesting projects should be celebrated and showcased, whether its coursework projects, competition entries or creative entries outside of the field of architecture and engineering.
I have previous experiences in editorial working on my school's magazine and a few photography publications in New Zealand where I grew up. Alongside this, my experiences in freelance photography, videography and editing, I would like to imagine that I have developed an unique sense of composition and presentation.

As a first year MEng student I am super eager to nominate myself for a Design/Communications position in the team! I've already met some of the 2nd and 3rd years on the MEng and they were really sweet and cool (role models), doing things so seamlessly !!!
I would love to help incoming first years giving tips and tricks, but also first-hand taking on more responsibilities within the society, and getting to know other SEAD members! Having a D.T background from school, I love design, but also as an architecture student I'm learning to combine the more rough and precise design processes, so this will be great. Please vote for me!
