School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies Society (SSEES): Treasurer

Hi everyone!

My name is Katie, and I am currently a second-year student here at SSEES studying Politics, Sociology and East European Studies. 

Over these past two years SSEES has become my second home and being your Vice President over this academic year has been an honour. In this role I have been able to aid in communications between the embassies of the region. Leading to amazing events such as our talk with the Kazakh Ambassador to the UK. We have hosted so many great events from socials to academic talks.

This year has been a pivotal year as the committee, and I have worked tirelessly to increase awareness of our department and have set the foundations for cooperation between us and amazing institutions.

I believe that I have much more to do, however I would also like a change, which is why I am nominating myself for the position of Treasurer of SSEES Society. My past positions as Vice President of SSEES society and President of UCL Polish Society (a principal officer position) have equipped me well with the skills I need to deal with the finances of our society.

As your Treasurer I will:

• Work to finance amazing events such as a SSEES ball
• Improve upon the foundations we have already created with the embassies of our region and host more events in collaboration with them
• Organise more socials
• Collaborate more with the Cultural Societies at UCL
• Make SSEES a well-known department to increase extracurricular opportunities for our SSEES Students
