HELLO! My name is Louisa Chibane and if there's one thing I love more than running...it's running for a good cause. Why am I the best candidate for Community Outreach and Events Officer? Three reasons: I have the WILL, the EXPERIENCE and the CREATIVITY!
As someone who has volunteered at food banks, protests, charity shops and with sports coaching,-helping others and giving back to the local community is integral to my life. Therefore I am totally comfortable, committed and passionate in taking up a role like this. An exciting part of this role is also to collaborate with other societies, which I'm sure my communication skills and friendliness will easily and enthusiastically facilitate.
I’ve completed multiple half-marathons and 10Ks for MSF, muscular dystrophy research, local hospices, and children’s charities. Last year, I was part of the RAX London Landmarks team for Mental Health UK, and I loved the group effort behind a shared cause. This year I want to expand race support, offering guidance/starting discussions about training plans and race preparation to reassure half-marathon newbies, avoid injuries before the big day and make those PBs!
Some event ideas I’d like to bring to life:
🧠 Running-themed quiz (history, science, celeb rounds) with QuizSoc
📺 Athletics watch parties
🌍 Plogging trips (jogging + litter-picking) along the Thames
