I am standing to become athletics captain at UCL RAX for one main reason. That reason is to help make UCL a powerhouse in athletics.

With several years of experience in athletics, and after competing at BUCS and LUCA, I know UCL has much potential in this sport. But I believe UCL can do much better in these competitions, and with athletics as a whole. (We need to really 'lock in'). So, as an aspiring athletics captain, I wish to achieve this through 2 main ways.

First, my main priority is to boost participation in UCL RAX. I have been doing athletics for 7+ years now. It has been full of ups and downs, PB's, injuries and many things of the like. But what makes me come back each time is the unrivalled feeling it provides. The adrenaline of competing, the joy, the teams, the socialising. I don't want this experience to be limited to just a few, so as athletics captain I will make it my priority to bring in as many UCL students into the team so we all can experience the joy of athletics.  With 7+ years of experience in the sport, I will achieve this through organising Highgate sessions, athletics socials and races with other unis and sports clubs.

Second, being passionate with motivational speaking, I wish to provide an air of encouragement. I have been quite displeased by UCL's recent losses to KCL in the Varsity competitions. I want to turn this around. I aim to bring in driven individuals into our team and inspire them to help UCL become the athletics powerhouse we should be!
