Vivin Thamaraikannan

Hi everyone, I’m Vivin, and over the past couple of years I’ve had the privilege of being part of the RUMS committee—first as Equity Officer, and recently as your Y1-3 Academic VP, where I introduced initiatives such as the RUMS Preclinical Tutorials. These roles have reinforced how much I care for RUMS and how amazing our community truly is! RUMS has been an integral part of my medical school journey, and I will strive to serve our student body with passion and commitment.

To achieve this, I aim to:

Collaborate with other London Med School Presidents to enhance UH partnerships, including inter-society events.

Strengthen our community and committee organisation through introducing a year-round comprehensive, inclusive LIVE RUMS calendar.

Streamline Preclinical academic support, by identifying gaps that RUMS can fill, as well as solidify the success of the NEW RUMS Tutorials initiative.

Improve promotion of student-led outreach societies, bridging the gap between medical students and the communities we serve.

My experience working with UCLMS faculty as Academic VP, Equity Officer, and various subcommittees gives me valuable insight into diverse student communities and their needs. I’ve also had the opportunity to represent RUMS in international collaborations, attend regular meetings with faculty, and begin revitalising Preclinical support through initiatives like the new RUMS Tutorials. As RUMS President, I will strive for a more connected, inclusive, and empowered student body!
