Fresh out of the trenches of the February formative, my understanding of our collective challenges, frustrations, and gaps in academic support has never been sharper. I’m Charlotte and, as Academic VP, I’m determined to push for tangible, meaningful changes that not only address these issues but also encourage open communication and collaboration within RUMS.

From serving as a two-time Academic Rep to helping with Freshers Week on RUMS Events Subcom, I’ve gained invaluable experience working closely with both faculty and our diverse student community; this positions me confidently to bridge this gap, ensuring your varied opinions are effectively represented and translated into real, impactful improvements.

As your Academic VP, I would:

  • Launch a RUMS Year 2 Mock CPSA with no societal affiliation, ensuring everyone can experience the format, attempt realistic stations and gain feedback ahead of the February formative.
  • Create a centralised calendar for tutorials/workshops in collaboration with RUMS/academic medic societies - no more scrolling through the year-chat spam!
  • Build on the success of RUMS Tutorials with more refinement based on your feedback.
  • Rebuild the Treasure Trove with up-to-date, medical school-compliant resources based on student input.
  • Reboot the RUMS Academics Instagram with regular updates, offering transparency on how reps and faculty are actioning your feedback.
  • Push for all LT1 lectures to be subtitled with live captions, improving accessibility and note-taking.
