Rugby Club (Women's): Communications Secretary

This year has made me realise rugby is insane!! I absolutely love it and never imagined I would have ended up playing rugby let alone getting my team tattooed on my ankle 🌝

This has inspired me to get the word out about women's rugby, encourage people to get involved and just show people how fun it can be! Aside from announcing our matches, I want to post about the whole experience of rugby such as our trainings, socials and the lead up to varsity. Our team is full of charismatic interesting people and I would love to highlight and showcase this within our online community !

As Communications Officer I would specifically like to: 

• Promote women’s rugby more online to encourage more people to try out the sport/join us! 
• Document our rugby experience as a team, preserving a part of our experience in the uclwrfc legacy
• Increase our platform on the UCL stage to encourage wider knowledge of women’s rugby and get more people/clubs/societies involved to foster a wider sense of community across UCL in general (and because it’s fun!) 
• uclwrfc tiktok? 🙈

If I am chosen, I cannot wait to hear all your ideas and get everyone involved on sharing our love for rugby 🏉

Joining rugby this year has been a wonderful adventure; from entering such an encouraging environment to the satisfaction of seeing my rugby skills progress, it’s such that I hope to support, highlight, and expand this incredible community—UCL Women’s Rugby—by standing as Communications Secretary. 

My experiences in relevant roles help inform my decision and make me well-suited to the role. Having held multiple marketing roles in school societies, community projects, and business organisations, I’ve gained relevant experience engaging in and creating media content as well as effectively communicating with a range of demographics. From creating Instagram and LinkedIn posts to policy proposals, I am thus confident and assured in my language and communication skills. I further recognise the central role communication plays in both the function and growth of the team, with efficiency maintaining productivity. These experiences have also provided key insights into the importance of being adaptable and collaborative—all of which manifest themselves not only in organisations, but also in rugby!

As you’ve probably seen me with my camera, I am also a keen photographer. This role thus allows me to channel my creative outlook into outreach and publicity. Having personal passion and past engagement further translates to relevant skills to continue @uclwomensrugby's legacy. Beyond this, my enthusiasm and positivity also enable me to be well-fitted for the committee and society. Thank you!
