Hey!! I’m Bhoomi and I’m a second year student. I’ve been involved with Rare for a year now, hosting my own show and being the Head of Events for the current Committee, helping out with all the fun events we’ve had this year!
I think I would make a great Treasurer for Rare FM because I’m organised, detail-oriented and reliable, and I also love working with numbers. As Head of Events, I’ve already had experience with the financial side of event planning and budgeting, so I really understand the importance of practical and strategic financing. An added benefit you’d get with me as your Treasurer is that I come from a long line of accountants, so being financially responsible has been drilled into me since birth! Beyond this, I really love meeting and talking to new people, working as a team, and finding fun and flexible ways to continue growing as a society, whether that be through new sponsorships, collaborations or studio equipment.
Rare FM is such a vibrant and unique society, and I’m really committed to upholding its growth and expanding its outreach as Treasurer!
My name is Maria do Mar and this is my 3rd year at UCL! Rare has a very special place in my heart, it is a community that has received me with open arms and helped me feel at home. It was where I not only developed a new, and at this point indispensable, hobby, but also made friends and explored my creativity and passion for music. This is what I want to continue to promote as part of Rare's committee, for both old and new members to have a safe space to share their love for music and meet like-minded people!
I was lucky to be Rare's treasurer this last academic year and it was an incredible opportunity to give back to the society. This year, with the help of all committee members and after a long time, we obtained a grant to buy a new desktop, which is essential for members to run their shows. After last year's interruption to shows due to tech issues, this was my top priority as part of committee. We also expanded our equipment range, purchasing a GoPro and other audio equipment, to ensure members could gain more from our studio. This also helped members who DJ record the sets which helps them disseminate their work and music. For this year, I believe it is key to continue fostering inclusivity in our community, increase our outreach and listenership, and expand the opportunities for our members who are passionate about getting their shows and sets out there.
It would be incredible to be back on committee this year and hope you vote for me :)
