Rare FM: Social Secretary

My name is Dylan Kotecha, I am a 3rd year medical student, and I would love to be the social secretary for Rare FM. My main aim is to strengthen the sense of community within our society by having different socials and more of them!

Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I have always loved to discuss and debate the intricacies of different artists and albums. I didn't really have a space to do that, as my friends don't really know their EPs from their LPs, until I joined Rare FM. Within this society, we have a built in community of people who are just as passionate about music as we are, and my aim is to help people find likeminded friends who are as passionate about their favourite genre or area of music, or friends who are passionate about music in general, and can put you onto new stuff.

I will be bringing my experience as the Welfare Vice-President for RUMS, the medical students' association, one of the biggest societies at UCL, representing around 2000 students. The skills I have learnt in that role of teamwork and organisation will be invaluable for this role. I also want to increase the number of socials per term, and have ideas for new socials, including karaoke, and a live request night in the studio with all of the presenters, as well as the tried and true socials this year, like pub trips, quizzes and open deck nights.
