I am Lenart, a current second year Computer Science student.
I have extensive industry experience in quant. As a Summer Trading Intern at Optiver last summer, I got the chance to experience the thrill of executing trades on real-market data as well as worked on systematic solutions to trade zero-day expiry S&P 500 options, both individually and in a team. I had the opportunity to learn from top quant researchers in the field and am excited to share the knowledge.
Having been in numerous competitive mathematics and computer science teaching positions in the past, I hope to create a welcoming environment within the society with an emphasis on learning. I believe that my skillset and teaching experience will be a great fit for this role. My goal is to establish groups that will actively participate in numerous quant events and hackathons hosted by top quant firms while also hosting workshops that will help our members understand the necessary skillset that one needs to succeed in this competitive field.
This Summer, I will be interning at Maven Securities and gaining even more industry experience. I am excited to bring insights from real trading floors to our events and make them even more engaging and relevant.

I'm running for Head of Events because I want to make Quant Society more active and engaging for students. This year, I’ve been involved in both Quant and Fintech Society, hosting a stock price prediction hackathon, running a quant finance workshop, and working with other societies like Data Science. Since Quant Society didn’t have a president, I used my role in Fintech to help organise events and secure rooms, making sure both societies could run bigger events for more people.
I have experience in algorithmic trading, with a strategy that’s returned over 40% in the last eight months and a 63% CAGR over a 20-year backtest. I’ve also authored articles on volatility decay in leveraged ETFs and volatility ETFs, breaking down complex quant concepts and their real-world applications. As Head of Events, I want to bring more hands-on opportunities for students, including trading competitions, speaker panels, and workshops that bridge the gap between theory and real-world quant finance.
As a Computer Science student, I bring a strong programming background, which complements the more maths-focused approach many take in quant. I want to use this to create events that highlight the technical side of quant finance, from coding workshops to algo trading challenges.
As Head of Events, I’ll focus on organising high-quality, engaging events that give members practical experience, industry insights, and networking opportunities to help them develop their careers in quant.
Hello everyone,
I'm excited to nominate myself for Head of Events. This summer, like many of you, I'll be going through the quant application process. I know we’re all in the same boat, and it's our shared experience that drives me to organize events that meet our needs.
A type of event that really appeals to me are campus visits. These visits offer a true insight into what being a quant really means. They demystify the work environment, show us the day-to-day challenges, and serve as a strong motivation to work hard. Seeing these settings first-hand can prepare us better for the rigorous application process by offering guidance and inspiration that goes beyond what a classroom can provide.
As a First-Year Representative, I’ve been actively involved in outreach and planning talks with firms like Citadel. This experience has reinforced my commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and the practical demands of the quant world.
Thank you for considering my nomination. I look forward to creating meaningful events that not only educate but also inspire us all to reach our potential.

Dear Quant Society Members,
I am Michelle, a third-year maths student running for Head of Events. With more than 5 years of society leadership experience I am currently the Coordinator at Quant Soc where I have gained hands on knowledge about marketing Quant events. I participated in organising events based on our member’s opinions, such as the Quant Workshop where we taught hands-on quant knowledge. I have gained professional experience as a spring intern at Citadel. Utilising my knowledge to obtain these roles I know I can similarly launch you into future success in summers and springs.
My agenda:
Events - I will bring valuable career support in quant finance to you. With a focus on workshops that will teach our members about skills needed to succeed in this industry.
Growth - To include more technical career support in quant industry such as algorithm trading, along with interactive sessions tailored to relevant quant finance knowledge so you can broaden your skillset.
Collaboration - Increasing the number of firms and societies we collaborate with so that you can have more networking opportunities to assist you breaking into quant and get advice.
I am passionate about empowering each of you to achieve your career aspirations. Together, we can make UCL Quant Society a platform for growth, opportunity, and success.
