I am standing for Punjabi Society Social Secretary to add to the vibrant and inclusive community we already have here at UCL. My aims would be to try to have more socials which cater to different tastes so that everyone feels that they can participate in something and no one feels left out.

I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for Social Secretary of UCL’s Punjabi Society.
As a current first-year representative, I’ve had the privilege of being involved in some incredible events, and I’m eager to take that experience forward to create even more exciting opportunities for all of us. My vision is simple: to bring the Punjabi Society closer together, celebrate our vibrant culture, and ensure every member feels included and connected.
If elected, my primary goal will be to organise a range of engaging and inclusive social events that cater to everyone. Whether it’s casual meet-ups, cultural celebrations, or larger socials, I aim to create a calendar full of events that will strengthen our bonds as a community. I’ll ensure there’s something for everyone - whether you're looking to unwind, make new friends, or explore aspects of our culture.
Communication will be key. I want to ensure that members’ voices are heard, and that event planning reflects your interests. I’ll make use of social media, feedback forms, and committee meetings to keep everyone informed and involved in shaping our activities.
Building a welcoming and fun environment will always be my priority. I believe that through positive and memorable experiences, we can foster stronger connections, while proudly representing the Punjabi culture in everything we do.
I would be honoured to serve as your Social Secretary, and with your support, I will work hard to make next year full of unforgettable moments.
Manifesto for Social Secretary – UCL Punjabi Society
I am excited to stand for the position of Social Secretary because I believe in celebrating and expanding the vibrant spirit of our Punjabi culture at UCL. Building on the high standards set by our current committee, I aim to maintain our society’s strong foundation while introducing innovative social events that bring our diverse community even closer together. I envision a calendar packed with creative activities and, where possible, collaborative initiatives with other societies. By integrating cultural heritage with modern trends, I want every event to be a platform for learning, networking, and pure enjoyment. Whether it’s intimate dinners, charity-driven gatherings, or energetic club nights, my focus is on inclusivity, engagement, and excellence. With strong organisational skills and a passion for Punjabi culture, I am committed to ensuring that each social event not only meets but also exceeds your expectations. I am here to listen, learn, and innovate alongside you, ensuring that our events remain the heartbeat of society.

I would love to be more involved in Punjabi society, I’ve had a great time since joining. I feel I could ensure the socials the clubs host stay amazing, as they are a great way for people to socialise and make friends and get away from Uni stress. I really appreciate the effort the society puts into making these events and I would love to be part of the process.
Being a part of UCL's Punjabi Soc has been such a great part of my first year, so I would love to give back to the society and serve as a member of next year's committee!
During sixth form I was elected as an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion prefect, allowing for me to gain key experience in organising cultural events. As part of my prefect legacy project, I helped organise and run my school's first ever "Global Citizenship Week", each day exploring and celebrating a different element of people's cultural heritage, be this with food, music or clothing. The week concluded with the successful execution of our county's first ever "Culture day", providing both students and staff the opportunity to wear clothing they felt truly reflected their cultural identity, as showcased in our fashion show finale. I also collaborated with other prefects and senior staff members to organise other cultural events (such as Diwali and Eid celebrations), student newsletters and fundraising campaigns.
Hence why I would love to develop my creativity and organisation skills further as a social secretary, organising events, club nights and game nights to bring everyone together and celebrate a culture we are all so proud to belong to. An idea I have for a future event is an annual Punjabi Soc ball, giving everyone the chance to dress up and enjoy good food, music and an open bar (definitely a requirement).
Thank you so much and I would love your votes to become Punjabi Soc's next social secretary!

I’m really excited to be running for Social Secretary for UCL Punjabi Society. Being part of a community that celebrates our culture and brings people together means a lot to me, and I’d love to contribute by organising fun and meaningful social events for everyone.
As Social Secretary, I’d focus on coordinating events that not only let us unwind and have fun but also help build a stronger sense of community within the society. Whether it’s social nights, cultural events, or casual meetups, I want to make sure there’s something for everyone to enjoy and connect over.
I also want to make sure the committee and members feel like they’re part of a close-knit group. Social events are a great way to bond, so I’d work hard to plan things that allow everyone to get to know each other better while having a great time.
I’m excited for the chance to help create some memorable moments for UCL Punjabi Society, and hope I have your vote!

Dear Committee,
I am excited and enthusiastic to run for PSOC social secretary. I feel it will allow me to represent and carry out the visions and goals of people in around this society. I am eager to bring people together, creating memorable experiences as well as a vibrant and inclusive community within PSOC.
I believe the committee this year have done a fantastic job of putting on great events, while doing it consistently and I would look to continue this, aiming to have an event every few weeks. From social mixers and themed parties to cultural events and casual hangouts, I will look to organise a range of activities to cater for different tastes.
Another aim of mine is to work with other societies to create bigger, more diverse events and opportunities to meet new people, while making these events budget friendly to ensure they are accessible for everyone. I would also look to seek input through polls and surveys to make sure our events reflect what the people actually want.
I already have some valuable experience as a social secretary, acting as a stand in for a couple weeks for my hockey team at UCL this year, organising 5 side football and pizza night, which required me to book the two venues and ensure everyone has paid their portion, which went on right until the last minute.
