Public Speaking Society: President

Hi everyone! I am Lachlan, and I would like to run for president for Public Speaking Society. Having been the first year representative and treasurer, I very much enjoy the community this society brings together to allow more people to share their thoughts, ideas and dreams. Having contributed to the development of the society over the past 2 years, I am keen on taking on the role as president to continue this upward trajectory in the coming academic year. The following are key areas that I will focus on:

1. Widening the scope of our workshops - lowering the entry barrier for students who wish to get started in public speaking while inviting talents to contribute to our workshops
2. Strengthening inter-university collaboration - following our success of hosting our own UCL Public Speaking competition for the second year running, we will work together even more closely with other universities, such as sharing resources and organising events for more students to engage with.
3. Build a stronger community - incorporating our members’ feedback to further personalise our session content and encourage members to build connections

These are just a few key areas to get started, and together with the new elected committee members, I am sure we can bring even more creative new ways to make the public speaking society even better! Thanks for reading this and I look forward to serving as the president for the society!
