Election post
Hey everyone!
Many of you may know me as first year rep, but beyond that, you’ve probably seen me around giving speeches, chatting during pizza nights, or even playing Werewolf together during our socials! The point is: I’m an approachable leader who loves engaging with our community.
And that’s exactly what an Events Officer should do! I want to hear from YOU, your ideas and preferences, to create events that truly excite and challenge you.
My aim is to organise events beyond the regular academic learning. I want you to feel like public speaking is not an academic challenge to endure, but a pleasurable, interesting, perhaps even comfortable space to be in. I'll promote this through:
- Experimenting different session styles so everyone is challenged in different ways
- Bringing in professional speakers to share their insights and stage tricks
- Encouraging members to take the stage in London’s biggest public speaking competition
- Organizing more initiatives that make the stage less intimidating by making you step out of your comfort zones (just like the Speech for a Cookie that filled 100% sign-ups)
- I understand public speaking is an academic responsibility as well, which is why I hope to simulate real-world interviews, elevator pitches, and presentations that no course prepares you for
- Continuing our fun games + socials! :)
